A steel city by birth, an aerospace MRO city by recent ambition, and a hub for downstream fabrication that stretches across the Sundargarh belt. For anyone packing finished goods out of Rourkela, the question is rarely whether they need plywood. The question is which thickness, which face, and how fast it can land on the factory floor.

The city is anchored by a large integrated steel plant, one of the original mills set up under the first wave of public-sector industrialisation. It feeds plate, coil, structurals and pig iron into downstream users across eastern India, and an enormous share of the city's logistics activity grows out of that single complex. Around it, an entire ecosystem of fabricators, gas suppliers, refractory makers and engineering job-shops occupies the Kalunga Industrial Estate and the adjacent IDCO sheds on the Rourkela-Sundargarh corridor.

The second axis is aerospace. An aerospace MRO facility at Rourkela handles overhaul work for fighter airframes and brings with it a defence-grade packaging requirement that is materially different from steel-mill packing. Sub-assemblies, line-replaceable units, instrumentation and engine components need crates that survive multi-modal handling and meet stricter timber-treatment specifications.

Around these two anchors sit the smaller but persistent sectors: ferro-alloy units in the broader Sundargarh-Sambalpur belt, downstream sponge-iron plants, transformer and switchgear assemblers, and a growing set of engineering exporters who ship through Paradip and Visakhapatnam ports. Every one of those flows generates demand for plywood — as raw sheet, as crate kits, as pallets, or as container-flooring repair stock.

What this means for plywood demand

Steel packing tends to be heavy, low-aesthetic and repetitive. Aerospace and defence packing is lower volume, higher specification, with audit trails. Export-bound engineering goods sit in between. Our range is built to serve all three, but the grade decision matters, which we cover below.

What we ship

What we manufacture for the Rourkela belt

Packing-grade plywood (commercial / rubberwood core)

This is the volume product for the Rourkela belt. Hardwood-faced plywood, MR-bonded, manufactured to packing-case specifications rather than furniture cosmetics. Used by case-makers building crates for steel plates, machined components, transformer accessories and general engineering exports. Standard sheet size is 8 ft x 4 ft; bespoke cuts are arranged where the crate bill-of-materials needs it.

Thickness

Typical use

6 mm, 8 mm

Crate sheathing, light box panels, partitions

10 mm, 12 mm

General engineering and component crates

14 mm, 15 mm, 16 mm

Heavier crate walls, steel-output packing

18 mm

Crate bases, skid decking, container-flooring substitute

Okoume-faced packing plywood

Where the crate is going to a European or Japanese consignee, or where the goods inside are high-value — aerospace spares, calibrated instruments, machined dies — Okoume face veneer is the option to ask about. It is a face-veneer specification on the MR-Packing or BWR core, not a separate grade family. The reason buyers pay the premium: a cleaner face that takes stencils and crate marks legibly, tighter glue lines and fewer overlaps.

Shuttering plywood

Rourkela's construction load — new shed expansions inside the steel township, IDCO industrial sheds, aerospace MRO infrastructure work, and the routine civil contracts around the steel plant — keeps shuttering ply in demand. 12 mm and 18 mm film-faced ply are the common pulls, sold by the sheet for formwork contractors.

Sawn timber, runners and pallet stock

Jackwood hardwood runners (¼ inch minus tolerance) ship out of Kochi by the cubic foot for case-makers who build their own pallets and crate skids. Rubberwood runners are offered to size. Standard pallet footprints for the Rourkela lane are 1200 x 1000 mm and 1200 x 800 mm (Euro), but most steel-plant pallet orders are bespoke to the load.

Container-flooring stock

Container-repair workshops along the eastern corridor pull 28 mm container-flooring grade from time to time. We supply it on indent where the volume and specification justify the lead time; for one-off repairs, a packing-grade 18 mm sheet often does the job at lower cost.

Logistics

The Kochi-to-Rourkela lane

The straight road distance from Kochi to Rourkela is roughly 1,900 km. The practical trucking route runs Kochi → Salem → Bengaluru → Hyderabad → Vijayawada → Visakhapatnam → Bhubaneswar → Rourkela, or alternatively up the central spine through Hubli, Sholapur, Nagpur and Raipur. Transit for a full truckload is typically 5–7 days depending on the season, the operator and the number of axles.

Mode

Typical transit

When it makes sense

Full truckload (FTL), 32 ft single axle

5–7 days

Single buyer, 600–800 sheets, predictable delivery slot

FTL, 32 ft multi-axle / 40 ft

5–7 days

Mixed loads of plywood + runners + pallet stock

Part-load (LTL) via Hyderabad hub

7–10 days

50–200 sheets, smaller fabricators

Coastal via Vizag port (rare)

10–14 days

Very large indent loads where road economics break down

All prices are quoted ex-factory Kochi; transport and GST are billed extra. For Rourkela, we routinely combine packing ply, runners and pallet stock into a single FTL so the buyer absorbs the freight across more material, bringing the landed cost per sq.ft down meaningfully. Our plywood is engineered wood and generally exempt from ISPM-15; where the consignee requires HT-stamped solid-wood components, we coordinate treatment so the finished crate is compliant.

Choosing a grade

Which grade for which Rourkela load

Use packing-grade plywood when

The crate is for steel-mill output, fabricated components or general engineering exports inside India or to the GCC.

Cost-per-sheet is the dominant decision.

The consignee does not specify a face veneer.

Use Okoume-faced packing plywood when

The crate is going to Europe, Japan, the US or any consignee with stencil-legibility expectations.

The goods inside are high-value or audit-tracked — aerospace LRUs, calibration equipment, dies and moulds.

You need cleaner ISPM-15 mark visibility on the crate face.

Use shuttering plywood when

The use is formwork — civil contracts inside the steel township, IDCO sheds, or aerospace MRO infrastructure work.

Multi-pour reuse is expected and a film-faced surface is needed.

Use sawn timber / runners when

You are building the crate skid or pallet base yourself.

The load is heavy and a hardwood runner is required for fork-truck handling.

FAQ

Rourkela supply questions

How much lead time do you need for a Rourkela order?

For regular packing-grade thicknesses, 3–5 days to dispatch from Kochi once the proforma invoice is settled. Add 5–7 days transit. For Okoume-faced or non-standard thicknesses, plan on 7–10 days to dispatch.

Do you handle ISPM-15 heat treatment?

The plywood we ship is engineered wood and generally exempt from ISPM-15. Where the consignee requires HT-stamped solid-wood components (runners, skids), we coordinate with treatment facilities so the final crate is compliant.

Can you supply cut-to-size for crate kits?

Yes, on indent. For Rourkela case-makers running standardised crate sizes, we cut sheets to the crate bill-of-materials before dispatch, which reduces on-site waste and saves labour at the fabrication shed.

Get a quote

Source plywood and crates for Rourkela

If you are sourcing for a Rourkela operation — steel-plant packing, aerospace MRO crates, IDCO-estate fabrication, or formwork for site expansion — send the thickness, sheet size, monthly quantity and delivery location, and we will revert with an ex-factory rate and an indicative landed cost to Rourkela. Almost every plywood requirement in the area traces back to a cargo flowing through the docks or a chemical line feeding them. The port handles iron ore, coking coal, thermal coal, POL products, fertilizer raw materials and a growing volume of containerised general cargo. It is the anchor, but the demand for industrial packaging fans out across a tight cluster of plants and estates sitting within 25 km of the berths.

Refinery and petrochemical belt

A large grassroots refinery sits on the southern flank of the port, and a downstream petrochemical cluster has grown around it — polypropylene units, MEG, paraxylene and an expanding complex. Shutdown seasons, catalyst movements, spare-parts inflows and finished-goods despatch generate continuous demand for engineering-grade crates and heat-treated pallets.

Fertilizer and chemicals

The phosphatic fertilizer complexes around the port (DAP, NPK) and the broader fertilizer-handling infrastructure mean a constant flow of bagging machinery spares, instrumentation, valves and imported sub-assemblies — all of which arrive or leave in wooden cases. The acid and ammonia handlers in the cluster add to the load.

Port-side and project cargo

The Paradip Port industrial area, the IDCO industrial estate at Paradip and the Kalinganagar / Duburi industrial belt about 100 km inland draw heavy project cargo through Paradip. Steel mills, power-plant equipment, transformers and heavy fabrications either land here or move out for export through this port — each consignment a multi-crate, multi-pallet job.

What we ship

Three product families for eastbound cargo

Almost every consignment we send eastbound is built around three product families: packing-grade plywood for case-makers, finished crates and pallets, and container flooring stock for trailer and reefer rebuilds. The mix shifts by season — fertilizer campaigns in pre-monsoon months, project cargo in Q3, refinery shutdowns scheduled around the turnaround calendar.

Packing-grade plywood — the workhorse

Our MR packing-grade plywood is the default specification for box-makers serving Paradip's fertilizer and petrochem buyers. Standard offerings:

Thickness range: 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 14 mm, 15 mm, 16 mm and 18 mm

Standard sheet size: 8 ft x 4 ft (2440 x 1220 mm) — custom-cut to box dimensions on request

Core: rubberwood / commercial hardwood, hot-pressed

Face veneer options: commercial, Gurjan or Okoume on the MR packing grade and on our BWR grade

Moisture: 8–12% kiln-conditioned, suited to coastal climate

For petrochem spares and refinery turnaround crates that travel under tarpaulin or hit monsoon transhipment, we recommend the BWR grade with an Okoume face — phenolic-bonded, marginally better against humidity ingress, and noticeably stiffer at the same thickness.

Crate construction

Finished crates leave our factory floor cut, nailed and ISPM-15 heat-treated when the consignment is bound for export through Paradip. Typical specifications for the cargo profiles moving through the port:

Cargo type

Recommended crate

Plywood spec

Refinery spares / valves

Closed box, batten-reinforced

12 mm BWR ply, hardwood frame

Fertilizer machinery

Closed box, ISPM-15 stamped

15–18 mm packing-grade ply

Transformers / heavy electricals

Skid-mounted closed crate

18 mm ply, hardwood skid runners

Steel fabrications (Kalinganagar)

Open crate or pallet-mount

12 mm ply decking, sawn runners

Pallets

Standard four-way entry pallets in 1200 x 1000 mm and 1200 x 800 mm (Euro), with custom sizes for fertilizer bagging lines and refinery part runs. Block pallets or stringer pallets, depending on whether the loading bay uses pallet jacks or forklifts. All export pallets are ISPM-15 treated and stamped on request.

Container flooring

Apitong-substitute container flooring stock — 28 mm phenolic-bonded ply, 2400 x 1160 mm planks — for trailer rebuilds and reefer / dry-van refurbishment work coming through the port-side transport workshops. Less common as a line item than crates, but a steady niche.

Logistics

The Kochi-to-Paradip lane

The lane is long but well-trodden. Distance from the Perumbavoor manufacturing belt to Paradip Port is roughly 1,800 km by road via NH-66 / NH-16 — the east-coast highway through the Bengaluru bypass, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Bhubaneswar. Typical transit:

FTL truck (20 ft / 32 ft body): 4–5 days door-to-door, weather permitting

Container (FCL via Cochin Port to Paradip): coastal feeder routing, 7–10 days door-to-door — slower but useful for high-volume single-buyer despatches

Part-load (LCL trucking): 5–7 days, consolidation in Bengaluru or Hyderabad

For most plywood-only consignments under 12 tonnes we recommend FTL trucking — pricing is predictable, handling damage is lower, and ISPM-15 stamped crates clear pre-shipment inspection without container demurrage risk. For project-cargo lots where the buyer wants to stage stock at Paradip for a multi-month shutdown, FCL coastal containers from Cochin Port make sense.

Choosing a grade

Which grade for which Paradip load

Three rough buckets cover most of what we send east:

Packing-grade ply (commercial face)

The default for fertilizer industry buyers, general-engineering crates and pallet manufacturers. Cost-effective, kiln-conditioned, glues and nails well, holds a 1.5-tonne unit load over a 1200 x 1000 mm pallet without bowing. This is what 70–80% of Paradip-bound orders ship as.

Okoume face on MR or BWR

For petrochem, refinery spares, instrumentation and export-bound consignments. The smoother face takes branding stencils cleanly, weighs slightly less per sheet, and the BWR variant tolerates the Paradip-monsoon transhipment window better than MR. Specify Okoume when the buyer asks for "exportable presentation" or when the cargo will sit at the port for more than two weeks.

Shuttering ply

For Paradip's infrastructure side — jetty extensions, refinery civil works, fertilizer plant expansions, township construction — film-faced shuttering plywood (12 mm, 18 mm) is the standard. Reusable for 8–15 pours depending on care. Order in 20-ft container loads to make the trucking lane economical.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you supply ISPM-15 stamped crates for Paradip export consignments?

Yes. All export-bound crates are heat-treated at registered facilities and carry the IPPC stamp. Documentation is shared with the cargo invoice. Useful for petrochem spares re-exports, fertilizer machinery returns and steel-product shipments out of Paradip.

Can you cut plywood to my crate sizes before despatch?

Yes — sheet ripping and panel cutting to buyer-specified dimensions are part of the standard offer. Most fertilizer and petrochem case-makers in the Paradip belt prefer pre-cut panels because it removes on-site cutting labour and waste. Send the cut-list with the PO.

What's the minimum order quantity for a Kochi-to-Paradip truck?

An FTL load is roughly 8–10 tonnes (around 600–800 sheets of 18 mm packing ply, or a mixed load of crates and pallets). We do consolidate smaller orders into LCL movements, but FTL pricing per sq.ft. lands cheaper once you cross the half-truck mark — worth aggregating quarterly orders.

The Mahanadi-Kathajodi twin-river city is the historic capital of Odisha, a serious handloom and textile cluster, the home of filigree silver craft, and the gateway to the Choudwar sponge-iron and ferro-alloy belt. Every one of those sectors generates outbound cargo that has to be packed into wooden crates, stacked on pallets or sat on a container floor before it leaves the state. To plan a supply lane you have to understand what the city actually ships, because each sector buys plywood differently.

Choudwar — sponge iron, ferro-alloys, steel

Choudwar Industrial Estate, about 12 km north of the city across the Mahanadi, is one of the original IDCO estates and the heart of the local metallurgical belt. Sponge-iron (DRI) plants, induction furnaces, ferro-chrome units and re-rolling mills cluster here, extending up toward the Jagatpur and Athagarh nodes. The cargo is heavy, high-density and abrasive: billets, ingots, ferro-alloy lumps, machined castings and spares. For these loads the packaging question is rarely about looks; it is whether the box and pallet will hold 800 kg without flexing.

Jagatpur, Madhupatna and the SME belt

Jagatpur Industrial Estate on the western fringe, plus Madhupatna and the older Khapuria cluster, host a long tail of engineering job-shops, auto-component units, transformer and switchgear assemblers, plastic moulders and food processors. This is classic export-crate territory: mixed SKUs, moderate weights and frequent shipments routed through Paradip or Kolkata.

Textiles and handloom

Odisha's handloom and textile export footprint runs from Bargarh and Sambalpur through Cuttack, where weaver co-operatives, state handloom hubs and private exporters consolidate stock. Textile cargo is lighter but volumetric; it travels in marine-grade plywood crates with internal partitions and moisture protection.

Filigree and high-value handicrafts

Cuttack's filigree silver, brassware and stone-craft exporters move low-volume, very high-value consignments. Air freight is common, and the crates have to be precision-fit with foam inserts. The plywood spec here is about face quality and dimensional accuracy, not raw strength.

What we ship

The Cuttack line-up, from heavy crates to presentation boxes

The bulk of our pan-India dispatch is built around the packing-case and export-crate sector. For the Cuttack mix above, the line-up looks like this.

Packing-grade plywood — the workhorse

Our commercial rubberwood packing-grade plywood is the default for sponge-iron, ferro-alloy and engineering crates. Standard sheet sizes are 8x4 ft and 7x4 ft, with thicknesses from 6 mm through 18 mm. Indicative selling rates (ex-factory; GST and transport extra):

Thickness

Rate (Rs/sq.ft)

Typical Cuttack use

6 mm

24

Crate panels for light handicrafts, textile cartons

8 mm

28

Side panels for medium engineering crates

10 mm

31.5

General-purpose export boxes

12 mm

33.5

Sponge-iron sample crates, auto-component boxes

15 mm

39

Heavy crate sides, transformer panels

18 mm

42

Crate bases, pallet decks, container flooring

Okoume face veneer — for handicraft and high-spec exports

Okoume is a face-veneer option on our packing and BWR grades, not a separate grade on its own. It gives a clean, light, tight-pored surface that handicraft and silver exporters in Cuttack like for presentation crates and stencilled boxes that have to look as good as they perform. Okoume-faced sheets are quoted on request, because the price moves with veneer availability.

Pallets and container flooring

For Choudwar's metallurgical loads and Paradip-bound textile consignments, the standard pallet decks we cut are 1200x1000 mm and 1100x1100 mm, generally an 18 mm deck on a hardwood block-and-runner frame. Where customers run their own pallet shop, we supply the deck sheets in bulk and let them assemble. For 20-ft and 40-ft container floor repairs and heavy-cargo stuffing, 18 mm BWR packing ply in 8x4 ft is the workhorse.

Sawn timber for crate frames

We also dispatch jackwood and rubberwood runners alongside the plywood. Jackwood at Rs 400/cft (quarter-inch minus tolerance) is the usual frame for heavier crates; rubberwood runners are quoted to size.

Logistics

Kochi to Cuttack — the two lanes

Cuttack is roughly 1,700 km from our Perumbavoor dispatch yard by road. Two practical lanes exist.

Lane

Route

Transit

Best for

Road-direct

NH-16 via Chennai, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar

5–7 days door-to-door

Full truckloads (32-ft single-axle, 4–5 containers' worth of sheets)

Coastal feeder

Cochin Port to Paradip, then ~75 km road into Cuttack and Choudwar

Slower in transit

Large recurring volume; cheaper per sheet at scale

Road-direct transit depends on weighbridge and check-post conditions. For most Cuttack buyers placing a first order, the road-direct lane wins on simplicity. Once monthly volume crosses a couple of truckloads, the coastal route starts paying back by avoiding the inland fuel and toll burn. On the certification question: an ISPM-15 stamp belongs on the finished crate from a registered fumigator, not on the raw plywood. We supply panels and runners to spec; the heat-treatment certification is done at the crate workshop, and our hardwood ply already meets the moisture and species norms most Cuttack exporters need.

Choosing a grade

Which grade for which Cuttack load

Sponge-iron, ferro-alloy and billet crates (Choudwar): 12 mm or 15 mm commercial packing ply on a jackwood runner frame. Skip Okoume — the load never sees it.

Engineering, auto-component and transformer exports (Jagatpur): 12 mm packing-ply panels, 18 mm base. BWR upgrade if the route crosses monsoon transit.

Textile and handloom exports: 6 mm or 8 mm packing ply with an internal moisture-barrier liner. A cost-sensitive segment — don't over-spec.

Filigree, brass and stone handicrafts: Okoume-faced packing ply, 8–10 mm, with precision foam inserts. Presentation matters as much as strength.

Pallet decks and container flooring: 18 mm BWR packing ply, 8x4 ft.

Shuttering ply is the right call only when the buyer is on a Cuttack construction site (bridge work, township builds, IDCO infrastructure). It is not a packing material, so please don't use it as one.

FAQ

Common questions from Cuttack buyers

Do you have a depot or dealer in Cuttack?

Not at the moment. We dispatch direct from Perumbavoor to the buyer's yard in Choudwar, Jagatpur or wherever the crate workshop sits. For repeat buyers we hold a quote-locked rate, so you don't have to re-negotiate every truck.

What is the minimum order to make Kochi-to-Cuttack worthwhile?

Practically, a full single-axle truck — about 600–700 sheets of 12 mm in 8x4 ft, or an equivalent mix. Smaller orders work if they piggyback on an existing eastern-India dispatch, so it is worth asking us when a lane is open.

Can you supply ISPM-15 compliant material?

The ISPM-15 stamp belongs on the finished crate from a registered fumigator, not on the raw plywood. We supply the panels and runners to spec; the heat-treatment certification is done at the crate workshop. Our hardwood ply already meets the moisture and species norms most Cuttack exporters need.

On one side is a maturing IT and electronics services hub that ships finished hardware, racks and lab equipment to clients across India and overseas. On the other is the Kalinga industrial belt, feeding steel ancillaries, foundries and heavy-engineering exporters that crate machined components for sea freight. Both flows generate steady demand for packing-grade plywood, heat-treated crates, four-way pallets and the occasional container-flooring refit. Buyers split into a few distinct clusters, and each wants slightly different plywood.

Infovalley and the IT/ITES corridor

Infocity-I, Infocity-II and the Infovalley corridor along NH-16 host data-handling, electronics R&D and IT hardware assembly units. The packing problem here is not weight; it is shock, humidity and theft resistance during multi-modal transit. Server racks, networking gear, lab-grade equipment and prototype hardware typically ship in 12 mm to 18 mm plywood crates with internal foam cradles. Edge protection and corner reinforcement matter more than raw thickness.

Kalinga belt and steel ancillaries

The Kalinganagar industrial complex, about 100 km north of Bhubaneswar, and the auto-component clusters around Khurda anchor demand for heavy crate-and-pallet packing. Machined steel parts, forgings, valves and pumps from these belts move to Paradip and Visakhapatnam ports for export. Crate skids see real point-loads here, which pushes plywood-thickness decisions toward 18 mm hardwood-core grades with through-bolted bottom rails.

Mancheswar and Bhubaneswar Industrial Estate

The older Mancheswar Industrial Estate and the adjacent Bhubaneswar Industrial Estate host a mix of light engineering, food processing, pharma packaging and ancillary fabrication. Demand from this belt is more fragmented: smaller crates, knock-down pallets and bundles of plywood sheets sold to local packing-case makers who consolidate orders for downstream exporters.

Khurda and the export back-haul

Khurda Road junction is a key freight aggregation point. Several export-focused units in textiles, leather goods and engineered ceramics use the Khurda-to-Paradip and Khurda-to-Vizag corridors. These exporters typically need heat-treated crating that meets the destination country's phytosanitary norms.

What we ship

Plywood, crates, pallets and flooring to specification

Packing-grade plywood (the workhorse SKU)

Our commercial rubberwood packing-grade plywood is what most Bhubaneswar buyers actually order. Standard sizes are 8 ft x 4 ft (2440 x 1220 mm) in thicknesses from 6 mm to 18 mm. The most common pulls for Odisha:

Thickness

Typical use

6 mm & 8 mm

Top and bottom panels for lightweight electronics and IT hardware crates

12 mm & 15 mm

The everyday workhorse for general industrial export crating

18 mm

Bottom skids, base panels and crates carrying heavy machined steel from the Kalinga belt

Material is rubberwood-core, hot-pressed, with a glue line tuned for packing-case service. Tolerance on what the purchase market calls "11+" is a true 12 mm; "17+" is a true 18 mm. We quote ex-factory Kochi; GST and transport are extra and depend on the lane.

Crate construction

For finished crates, the practical kit is plywood skin over a sawn-timber frame (jackwood or seasoned hardwood runners at ₹400/cft, quarter-inch-minus tolerance), screwed and stapled, with corner cleats. ISPM-15 heat-treated timber is used for any crate going to a sea-freight export buyer in the Kalinga belt or out of Paradip and Vizag.

Pallets

Standard four-way entry pallets in 1200 x 800 mm (Euro) and 1200 x 1000 mm (industrial) sizes are the bulk of pallet demand. Heavy-duty stringer pallets with 18 mm plywood top decks are specified for steel-component movement, while lighter two-way pallets ship for IT hardware staging.

Container flooring

Less frequent but real: container-flooring plywood for the repair and refit shops that service the truck-trailer and reefer fleets running between Bhubaneswar, Paradip and the Vizag-Kolkata corridor. We supply 28 mm container-flooring sheets on order.

Logistics

The Kochi to Bhubaneswar lane

The road distance from Kochi to Bhubaneswar is roughly 1,700 km. The practical trucking lane runs through Bangalore, Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, broadly tracking NH-16 for the last 1,000 km. Single-driver transit is 4 to 5 days; team-driven trucks can run it in 3 days during favourable seasons.

Route segment

Distance (approx.)

Mode

Kochi to Bangalore

550 km

Road (NH-544 / NH-44)

Bangalore to Vijayawada

700 km

Road (NH-44 / NH-65)

Vijayawada to Bhubaneswar

~830 km

Road (NH-16)

For full-truck loads (FTL) of 20 to 25 tonnes, FOR-Bhubaneswar pricing makes sense and we route through partner transporters. For smaller pulls, part-load consolidation through Vijayawada or Hyderabad transit hubs is cheaper but adds 2 to 3 days. Coastal sea-rail movement via Cochin Port to Paradip is technically possible but rarely beats road on door-to-door cost for plywood SKUs at typical Bhubaneswar order sizes.

Choosing a grade

Packing vs Okoume vs shuttering ply

Bhubaneswar buyers occasionally ask which grade to specify. The practical answer depends on what is going inside the crate and where it lands:

Use our commercial packing-grade plywood for domestic crates and most export crates where the receiver is in South or Southeast Asia. It carries the load, it is competitively priced and it ships fast.

Consider an Okoume face veneer when the crate is going to a European or US receiver, when surface finish matters (branded electronics, premium machinery), or when humidity exposure on a long sea route is a concern. Okoume is a premium face-veneer option on our MR-Packing and BWR grades, quoted on request.

Specify shuttering ply only when the buyer is in construction or infrastructure. It is not a substitute for packing ply in crating: different glue line, different surface, different price point.

FAQ

Common questions from Bhubaneswar buyers

What is the minimum order quantity for a Bhubaneswar delivery?

For full-truck-load pricing, we recommend a minimum of roughly 18 to 22 tonnes of plywood per order, which translates to one full container or one full 20-foot truck. Smaller orders are quotable as part-loads, but freight per sheet is higher.

Do you supply ISPM-15 stamped crates from Kochi, or do we get them stamped locally?

Either model works. We can supply ISPM-15 heat-treated, plywood-clad knock-down crates from Kochi for assembly at the buyer's site, or supply just the plywood sheets and rough sawn timber, leaving the buyer to use a Bhubaneswar-area ISPM-15 certified treater. The right choice depends on the buyer's existing crate-shop setup.

How do you handle quality complaints if a load reaches Bhubaneswar with damage?

Every dispatch carries a packing slip with batch numbers and thickness verification. If sheets arrive with transit damage or thickness variance outside our stated tolerance, we work the claim against photographic evidence taken at unloading. Practical and no-fuss.
