Solapur sits about 900 km from Kochi by road via NH-66 up the Karnataka coast, then NH-50 / NH-65 inland through Hubballi and Vijayapura. Practical road-freight transit is three to four days door-to-door for a single full-truck consignment, longer if the buyer is consolidating a part-load. Packing-grade plywood (MR-Packing)

Our packing-grade ply is the workhorse for the Nashik auto-component lane. Standard sheet size is 8 ft x 4 ft, and we mill thicknesses to match crate function:

Kochi to Nashik runs as a single documented full-truck-load

The road distance from Kochi/Ernakulam to Nashik is approximately 1,200 km. The lane runs north through Mangaluru, up the Konkan via NH-66 and then onto NH-48 at Pune, or alternatively inland through Bengaluru and Hubballi onto NH-48. Practical transit time for a full-truck-load (FTL) is 4-5 days door-to-door once the truck is loaded, including driver rest and toll/check-post time.

For Nashik specifically, road from Kochi is almost always the right choice — no port economics beats a direct truck on this route for sheet-form plywood and crating timber. MIHAN SEZ and the aerospace cluster

MIHAN (Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur) was built around an air-cargo proposition, and the cluster around it now spans aircraft maintenance and overhaul units, avionics shops and aerospace component manufacturers. Aerospace movements need crates with predictable moisture behaviour, ISPM-15 compliance on international legs, and tight tolerance on internal dunnage. Case walls here are typically 12 mm or 18 mm, with 18 mm or 25 mm bearers.

Butibori and Hingna MIDC

Butibori is one of Asia's larger industrial estates by area, with Hingna sitting closer to the city. Between them you have heavy electrical equipment, transformer makers, auto-component suppliers, steel fabrication and CNC machine builders. Kochi to Nagpur — the lane that decides the price

The Kochi-to-Nagpur leg is roughly 1,500 km by road. Realistic transit on a single-trailer movement is 4 to 5 days door-to-door, depending on whether the trailer routes via Bangalore, Hyderabad and Adilabad or via Mangalore, Pune and Aurangabad. We dispatch from Perumbavoor (north of Kochi, about 30 km from Cochin Port) on 32 ft or 40 ft trailers carrying 25 to 28 tonnes of plywood per load, which works out to roughly 750 to 900 sheets of 18 mm equivalent per trailer.

For Nagpur buyers this means two things. First, full-trailer (FTL) economics dominate: a single buyer ordering one full load gets a meaningfully lower landed cost than a part-load. Second, lead time from PI to delivered material is usually 10 to 14 days — about 7 days for production and dispatch, plus 4 to 5 days in transit. Waluj MIDC

2. Sea-worthy crates and ISPM-15 pallets

Aurangabad's export volume means most plywood we ship lands inside a fabricated crate or pallet within days. We supply both as semi-knock-down kits (flat-packed boards with cleat schedule) and as finished assemblies. Kochi to Aurangabad — the lane

It is a ~1,100 km road haul. The clean route is Kochi → Bengaluru (NH-544 / NH-44) → Hyderabad (NH-44) → Solapur (NH-65) → Aurangabad (NH-52). On a 32-ft single-axle or 22-ft container truck the realistic transit is 4 to 5 days door-to-door, depending on Ghat-section weather and how the buyer schedules unloading.

For export shipments where the buyer is consolidating multiple suppliers, an alternative is FOB Cochin → JNPT coastal feeder, with the plywood landing at the buyer's CFA in Nhava Sheva and trucking the last 350 km to Aurangabad. We rarely recommend it for inland Aurangabad delivery — direct road from Perumbavoor is cheaper and faster — but it is the right answer when the cargo is being containerised for re-export.

Choosing a grade

Which board for which load

A quick way to think about specification, written the way a packing engineer would brief a junior:

1. If the crate is single-trip, sea-freight, and load is under 1.5 t per crate — 12 mm MR packing ply, commercial face. This is the bulk of Waluj's CKD pack.
2. If the export pack must look presentable (premium two-wheeler, aerospace, medical equipment) — 12 mm packing ply with Okoume or Gurjan face veneer. Surface uplift, same core.
3. If the load is over 3 t or the crate will be re-used (returnable bin loop with a European OEM) — step up to 15 or 18 mm BWR hardwood ply, phenolic-bonded.
4. If the deliverable is a base or floor that takes forklift point-load — 18 mm BWR, period. Container flooring lives here.
5. If the spec sheet asks for "shuttering ply" — that is a construction-grade board (formwork for concrete). It is not the right input for a CKD crate. We manufacture both, but do not let the two product families get confused in the BOM.
