Oman Launches Major Education Infrastructure Expansion

In a significant step toward strengthening national education, Oman’s Ministry of Education has officially announced a design-and-build tender for 12 new government schools across multiple governorates. This initiative directly supports the country’s Vision 2040 goals, which emphasize accessibility to high-quality learning environments.

According to a Zawya report, the schools will be distributed across:

  • Muscat
  • Al Dakhiliyah
  • North and South Al Batinah
  • North and South Al Sharqiyah
  • Dhofar

Each school will feature 40 classrooms, accommodating primary through secondary levels, along with laboratories, sports areas, admin spaces, and support facilities.

  • Bid deadline: Early July 2025
  • Award date: October 2025
  • Project completion: March 2028

🏫 Four New Schools Already Under Construction

According to Times of Oman, construction work is actively underway at four schools in the Muscat governorate valued at over OMR 14 million (US $36 million).

Each project includes:

  • Classroom blocks
  • Admin offices
  • Multi-purpose halls
  • Sports facilities

These new institutions are scheduled for completion within the next academic year.
