What began as a proprietorship in Perumbavoor became Cochin Wood Industries Private Limited in 2021. Our group heritage informs the way we discuss grades, source materials and prepare an order, and the quotation names the factory that makes your order.

The questions buyers, specifiers and exporters most commonly ask — about grades, MOQs, lead-times, certifications and shipments.
What is the difference between BWR and BWP plywood?
BWR (Boiling Water Resistant) plywood is bonded with melamine-fortified urea-formaldehyde or phenolic resin as confirmed per order, and is commonly specified against IS 303 — the usual choice for general furniture, panelling and dry interior joinery.
BWP (Boiling Water Proof) plywood is bonded with phenol-formaldehyde resin, is made to IS 710, and survives prolonged exposure to boiling water. Specify BWP for kitchens, bathrooms, exterior joinery, marine applications and any humid environment.
Both are made under the BIS licence of our factory that presses your grade, where one applies; the licence number is named on your quote — check its status and scope in BIS Care before you confirm.
What thicknesses do you stock?
We make plywood in running thicknesses of 6, 8, 12, 15 and 18 mm, with 19, 20, 22, 25, 30, 35 and 40 mm supplied occasionally against order. Commercial and marine grades run 4–25 mm. Block boards run 18, 22, 25, 30, 35 and 40 mm. Container flooring ships at 28 mm. Shuttering plywood is most commonly produced at 12 and 18 mm.

Do you supply ISI / BIS-marked plywood?
Our plywood is made to IS 710 for BWP marine grade and IS 303 for BWR commercial grade, under the BIS licence of our factory that presses your grade, where one applies; the licence number is named on your quote. Block board and flush doors are quoted against IS 1659 or IS 2202 where a buyer specifies them. ISI (BIS) marking is supplied only where a valid licence covers that exact product and grade; the licence holder, number and scope are stated on the quotation. Where no licence applies, no marking or conformity claim is made.
What is your minimum order quantity?
We work at bulk and container scale — typically by the 20 ft or 40 ft container load. A full load may be mixed across thicknesses, grades and product lines. Part-loads within India and LCL consolidation for export are available where the route and quantity allow; the practical minimum for your destination is confirmed on the quotation.
What are your lead-times?
Stock catalogue items load within 7–10 working days of receipt of your advance. Made-to-order panels and fabricated crates load within 15–20 working days of receipt of advance. The dispatch date is stated on the proforma invoice.
Do you provide samples?
Yes. Sample swatches are available on request; how they are sent and any charge are confirmed with the sample request. Larger physical samples and full-sheet evaluations are available against a quoted fee.
What payment terms do you offer for export buyers?
Standard products transact on 50% advance, balance before dispatch; custom production on 100% advance — by bank transfer (T/T). We do not transact on open account.
Which export markets do you currently ship to?
We supply India domestically and export to Sri Lanka, Turkey, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Israel, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Singapore and the Maldives in Asia; South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania and Mauritius in Africa; the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom in Europe; the United States, Haiti, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic in North America; Chile in South America; and Australia.
Do your packaging products meet ISPM-15?
Plywood and other processed panels are exempt from ISPM-15. Where packaging contains regulated solid-wood components and the destination requires it, those components are treated and IPPC-marked to ISPM-15 by a DPPQS-registered treatment provider; the treatment method follows the destination's rules, and a treatment certificate is supplied where the quotation states it.
Can I visit your factories in Perumbavoor?

Do you guarantee the material?
We warrant that the goods conform to the grade and standard stated on your proforma invoice at the time risk passes, and the load is checked before dispatch. Technical data sheets are published for IS 303, IS 710, film-faced shuttering and calibrated Okoume E1 panels, and others are available on request. We can share feedback from buyers running the same material in service.
