How to specify a full-hardwood panel.

A full hardwood core means the inner veneers are hardwood through the panel, rather than a mixed softwood centre hidden behind a hardwood face. That construction matters when a cabinet side, door component or finished panel will be drilled, screwed, machined or seen at the edge. It gives the fabricator a more predictable substrate, but the exact species mix and veneer lay-up still belong on the order specification.

Start with the finished job, then choose the prepared thickness. The 12 mm panel suits lighter cabinet components, partitions and shaped joinery where the design already provides support. The 18 mm panel gives more material for shelves, carcass sides, worktop build-ups and components that need a stiffer section. These are buying guides, not a structural design calculation; the project engineer remains responsible for spans, fixings and loading.

Calibration, density and the numbers that belong on paper.

Calibration is a finishing operation that brings the panel to a held thickness and a more consistent surface for laminating, painting or CNC work. It does not turn a quote-only panel into a universal structural grade. If a slot, hinge line, dowel or press-fit joint depends on a narrow tolerance, give us the finished measurement and the tolerance band; we will confirm whether it is achievable for the selected construction.

Density is influenced by the hardwood species, veneer moisture and the batch itself. We therefore do not publish one universal density figure for this family. Where the shipment needs a weight limit, container plan or measured density, the sales team confirms the basis and records the relevant value with the quotation rather than presenting an average as a guarantee.

The same rule applies to glue grade, face veneer, certification and emission or test documentation. A claim is useful to a procurement team only when it is attached to the exact construction being bought. The written quote is where those details become traceable.

Where the prepared family fits.

Premium Hardwood is intended for buyers who need a dependable hardwood substrate and will finish, laminate or machine it as part of a larger job. Typical enquiries include furniture carcasses, shopfitting, interior partitions, door components, display units and other joinery where edge quality and machining consistency matter. For continuously wet service, specify the appropriate BWP construction instead; for light packing, the packing-grade range is usually the better fit.

Send one line per construction if a project mixes thicknesses, faces or finishes. Include the sheet count, the delivery city or export port, the date you need material on site and any certificate your customer has named. We can then confirm whether the requirement is available from the same factory and return a written offer without exposing a public list price.
