In short: Cochin Wood Industries is an Indian plywood exporter. We ship packing-grade, film-faced shuttering, Okoume-faced and marine plywood, plus boxes, crates and pallets, from Cochin to six GCC countries, Sri Lanka and Israel. USD quotes, FOB Cochin, 50% advance with balance before dispatch, TT or irrevocable sight LC. Quote replies within one business day.

Where we ship

Plywood export from India runs on a handful of proven lanes, and ours start at Cochin. Containers stuff near the factory and gate in at Vallarpadam ICTT, which keeps inland haulage short and stuffing under our own supervision. Sri Lanka and Israel each have a dedicated lane page; our notes on the Gulf markets are collected under GCC export.

What we export

The range covers the panels a packer, formwork contractor or building-material importer actually orders, not a catalogue of everything with a wood face.

  • Packing-grade MR plywood to IS 303, in 6, 8, 12, 15 and 18 mm as the typical run.
  • Okoume plywood — Okoume is a face veneer on our MR-packing and BWR grades, not a separate grade. We also make calibrated E1 Okoume-face panels on a eucalyptus core; the 16 mm panel weighs about 32 kg and ships bare or HPL-laminated.
  • Film-faced shuttering plywood for formwork.
  • Marine plywood to IS 710 BWP.
  • Plywood boxes and crates, plywood pallets, cable drums and container flooring ply.
  • Sawn timber — rubberwood and jackwood runners for packing work.

Container loading: plywood weighs out before it cubes out

Plywood is dense cargo. A container of packing plywood reaches its permitted payload well before the space is full, so the real question is never "how many sheets fit" — it is how many sheets the box, the shipping line and the destination's road rules will let you carry. Sheets per container is a weight calculation: thickness, panel density, pallet weight and the road limit at the discharge end.

We work both box sizes. A 20ft suits smaller orders and weight-restricted lanes; a 40ft carries more sheets only where the lane's road rules allow the payload, since the cap is on weight, not volume. Loose-loaded and palletised counts differ, and we quote both where it matters. Every export quote carries a loading plan — sheets per container, net and gross weight — so you are not surprised at a weighbridge and you are not paying ocean freight to ship air.

ISPM-15: what actually applies to plywood

This is the most common point of confusion in plywood export from India, so here it is plainly. Plywood panels are exempt from ISPM-15. Plywood is a processed wood material, manufactured under heat and adhesive pressure, so the panels themselves need no stamp and no fumigation at any border that follows the standard.

What ISPM-15 does cover is solid-wood packaging — the sawn-timber runners and battens inside boxes, crates and pallets. Our box and crate process is ISPM-15 compliant, so packaging that includes solid-timber components ships with treatment already handled. If you are weighing treatment routes for your own packaging, our note on heat treatment versus methyl bromide covers the difference.

Terms, documents and turnaround

Export quotes are in USD, FOB Cochin by default. Payment is 50% advance with the balance before dispatch for standard products, and 100% advance for custom specifications. We accept TT or an irrevocable sight LC.

Each shipment sails with its paperwork complete: commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and a phytosanitary certificate where the destination requires one. Nothing waits for the vessel to leave.

To get a quote moving, send thickness and sheet size, grade or face veneer, quantity, and the destination port. A reply comes within one business day from [email protected], or call +91 95674 10175.

FAQ

Does plywood need ISPM-15 treatment for export?

No. Plywood is a processed wood material and is exempt from ISPM-15, so the panels ship without a stamp or fumigation. The standard applies to solid-wood packaging such as timber runners in boxes, crates and pallets — and our packaging process is ISPM-15 compliant, so those components ship with treatment handled.

What are your export payment terms?

50% advance with the balance before dispatch for standard products; custom specifications are 100% advance. We accept TT or an irrevocable sight LC. Export quotes are in USD, FOB Cochin by default.

How many plywood sheets fit in a 20ft or 40ft container?

It depends on weight, not volume. Plywood reaches a container's permitted payload before the space fills, and destination road limits can lower the cap further, so the count varies with thickness, density and lane. Every quote includes a loading plan with sheets per container and net and gross weights.

How quickly can you send an export quote?

Within one business day. Send thickness and sheet size, grade or face veneer, quantity, and the destination port, and we reply with USD FOB pricing and a container loading plan.

Send the spec. The quote comes back in one business day.

Thickness, size, grade, quantity, destination port — that is all we need to return a USD FOB quote with a loading plan.
