Delivery & Shipment Policy
Last updated: 6 August 2026. These terms apply to business customers buying for commercial use or resale. Cochin Wood Industries does not sell to consumers.
This policy explains how we dispatch and deliver bulk orders. It forms part of our Terms & Conditions of Sale.
1. How orders are dispatched
We supply by the truckload within India and by container for export, and a full load may be mixed across thicknesses and products. Part-loads within India and LCL consolidation for export are available where the route and quantity allow; the practical minimum for your destination is confirmed on the quotation. We do not ship parcels or single sheets.
2. Production and dispatch
Production time depends on grade, thickness and quantity, and is confirmed on the proforma invoice. Stock-grade material moves sooner than made-to-order panels or fabricated crates, which are built to your drawing and quoted with their own schedule.
3. Loading and the loading plan
- Every export quotation includes a loading plan showing sheets per container with net and gross weight.
- Containers are loaded to weight, not volume: dense hardwood panels reach the payload limit before the container is full.
- The final plan depends on the carrier's payload limit and on road weight limits at the destination, which differ by country and state.
- Loading is loose or palletised as stated on the proforma invoice. Palletising protects edges and speeds unloading but reduces the quantity per container.
4. Freight, Incoterms and charges
Freight is quoted for each order against the agreed Incoterm under Incoterms 2020. Our usual export term is FOB Cochin; FCA, CFR and CIF are available where quoted. Where we quote CIF, marine cover is arranged through our freight forwarder, and the cover in force is stated on the quotation and on the proforma invoice. Tell us before the order is confirmed if your contract or your bank requires a particular level of cover, so it can be arranged and priced. The price on the proforma invoice covers only what the stated Incoterm covers. Destination charges, import duty, clearance, inland haulage beyond the named place, demurrage and detention are yours unless the proforma invoice says otherwise.
5. Documentation
Export shipments are supported by the commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading, and, where the destination requires them, the certificate of origin and a treatment certificate for solid-wood components. Tell us before the proforma invoice is issued if your bank, your customer or your customs authority requires anything further.
6. Delays
We will tell you as soon as we know of a delay to a confirmed dispatch date. Port congestion, carrier roll-over, vessel schedule changes and weather are outside our control and are covered by the force majeure clause in our Terms & Conditions of Sale.
