Buyer FAQ

Plywood buyer questions, answered

Straight answers for bulk and export buyers — grades, standards, packaging compliance, shipping and how to get a quote. Need something specific? Ask the export desk.

Is Cochin Wood Industries a manufacturer or a trader?

Both sides of one operation: our plywood and packaging are made across our group's Perumbavoor facilities — running since 1986 — and sold and shipped worldwide by the Cochin Wood Industries export desk. You deal with one team from enquiry to dispatch.

What products do you supply?

Marine plywood (IS 710 BWP), commercial / packing-grade plywood (BWR & MR), HD film-faced shuttering plywood, container flooring plywood (IICL TB-001), chequered anti-skid plywood, Okoume packing plywood, block board, flush doors, finger-joint boards, particle board, ISPM-15 pallets / boxes / crates / cable drums, and sawn timber. See the full product catalogue.

What is the difference between IS 710 and IS 303 plywood?

IS 710 is Boiling-Water-Proof (BWP / marine) grade — for permanent water exposure. IS 303 covers Boiling-Water-Resistant (BWR) and Moisture-Resistant (MR) commercial grades for interior and semi-exposed use. Full breakdown in our IS 710 vs IS 303 guide.

Do your export pallets, boxes and crates meet ISPM-15?

Yes. Our wooden packaging is heat-treated and stamped to ISPM-15 for export to any country that enforces it. Read do plywood boxes need ISPM-15.

Is plywood itself subject to ISPM-15?

Generally no — plywood and other manufactured/processed wood-based panels are exempt from ISPM-15 because the manufacturing process already eliminates pests. Solid-wood components (pallet runners, crate framing) do require treatment. Details in the ISPM-15 guide.

What is Okoume packing plywood, and when should I specify it?

Okoume is a light, uniform African hardwood face veneer favoured for export packing cases where weight and a clean surface matter. Compare it with gurjan in our Okoume vs gurjan guide, or see commercial plywood with Okoume face.

Do you supply container flooring plywood to IICL TB-001?

Yes — 28 mm film-faced HD boards built to ISO container floor specifications and the IICL TB-001 bulletin. See container flooring plywood and the IICL TB-001 guide.

What is your minimum order quantity?

We work at bulk and container scale — typically by the 20'/40' container load, including six-month repeat schedules. Smaller trial quantities can be discussed; samples are available on request.

Do you ship FOB Cochin? Which ports?

Yes. We quote FOB Cochin by default, loading at our group's facilities or at Vallarpadam ICTT, 40 km from the plant. We export across the Middle East, Africa, South & Southeast Asia and beyond; other Incoterms on request.

What are your lead times?

Confirmed at quotation — they depend on grade, volume and finishing, and run from receipt of your advance. Repeat orders are faster. We share pre-shipment photos before dispatch.

Can I get a sample before ordering?

Yes — tell us the grade and spec and we'll arrange a physical sample. For many products a photo and product code are enough for us to quote the same day.

What export documents do you provide?

Commercial invoice and packing list, phytosanitary certificate, ISPM-15 stamp where applicable, and the bill of lading on dispatch. Tell us your destination's requirements and we'll match them.

How do I get a quote?

Fastest is WhatsApp with your product, spec and destination port. You can also email [email protected] or use the quote form. The export desk replies within one business day with a real number — never a brochure.
