Why okoume

For the case maker, weight is money.

Lighter cases, lower freight

Okoume's low density takes kilos off every panel — and off the air-freight or volumetric bill.

Clean face to print and brand

Smooth, uniform okoume takes stencils, print and paint cleanly — the case looks like the goods inside.

The same grade, every order

Recurring packing programmes need the same sheet each month — face, thickness and glue line held to spec.

Questions buyers ask

Okoume plywood, answered.

What is okoume plywood?

Plywood with an okoume (gaboon) face — a light, even-grained African hardwood. It is smooth, low in density and paintable, which makes it a favourite for export packing cases and lightweight panels.

Why use okoume for packing cases?

Because it is light. A lower-density panel cuts the dead weight of the case, which lowers freight on air and volumetric shipments — and it prints and nails cleanly.

Okoume or gurjan — which should I use?

Okoume is lighter and smoother for packing and panels; gurjan is denser and stronger for structural use. See the full comparison →

What thickness, sizes and minimum order?

3–18 mm at 1220 × 2440 mm or cut-to-size, MR or WBP bonded, supplied by the container load (FCL) FOB Cochin.
