Where the anti-skid face earns its keep

Reading the specification
Four things separate a panel that lasts from one that delaminates in a season.

| Bonding | PF (phenol-formaldehyde) and MUF (melamine urea-formaldehyde) bonding are both available — specify against the exposure the panel will see. |
| Wire mesh | Supplied with or without a metal wire-mesh face. The mesh gives the most aggressive grip; without it you get the pressed chequer pattern. |

What is chequered anti-skid plywood?
Plywood with a pressed chequer or wire-mesh phenolic film that gives an anti-slip surface, on a waterproof phenolic core — used where people and wheels move over the panel.

Is chequered plywood the same as film-faced shuttering ply?
No. Both carry a phenolic film, but shuttering ply has a smooth face for concrete finish and is specified by pours. Chequered panel has a raised anti-skid pattern and is specified by grip and abrasion life.
What core do you use?
Hardwood — rubberwood or eucalyptus. Anti-skid panels take point loads from wheels and pallet corners, and a soft core crushes under them.
Can you supply it cut to a truck body size?
Yes. Panels are cut to the body or platform dimensions so your fabrication line fits rather than trims. Send the cutting list with the enquiry.
How long does the anti-skid face last?
It depends on traffic type and cleaning regime rather than time. Heavier film weight buys more abrasion cycles. Tell us the duty and we will specify the film accordingly.
