Three export industries, one trucking radius

Jaipur is one of the few Indian cities where three very different export industries — gemstones, marble and handicrafts — sit inside the same trucking radius and share the same packaging vendors. A consignment of certified emeralds leaving Sitapura, a slab of Makrana white marble heading to a US showroom, and a block-printed wooden chest bound for a European fair all rely on the same core inputs: stable packing-grade plywood, properly built crates, and pallets that survive multi-modal handling. Jaipur's export economy concentrates in a handful of clearly defined belts, and each one drives a different style of crate demand.

Sitapura Industrial Area and SEZ

Sitapura, on the southern edge of the city along the Tonk Road, is the heart of Jaipur's gem and jewellery cluster. The Sitapura SEZ and the broader industrial area host cutting and polishing units, certified jewellery exporters, and the freight forwarders that move their high-value, low-volume consignments. The packaging here is small-format but engineering-grade: precision plywood boxes lined with foam, fitted with cushioned inserts, and built to clear customs without rough-handling damage.

Bagru, Sanganer and the handicraft belt

Bagru and Sanganer, west and south of the city, are the engines behind Jaipur's block-printed textiles, blue pottery and decorative wood handicraft exports. Crating here runs larger and more variable: furniture pieces, ceramic groups, framed mirrors and assorted home-decor lots. Volumes are seasonal, peaking ahead of European and US trade-show cycles. Plywood specifications need to handle ocean transit and warehouse stacking without warping through humid coastal ports.

Marble cluster and the Kishangarh corridor

The Kishangarh marble market sits about 100 km from Jaipur and is one of the largest marble trading hubs in Asia. While the heaviest slab packing happens closer to the quarries, finished marble tile and processed stone export work flows through Jaipur-based forwarders. Marble packing demands the heaviest grade of plywood we ship — boards rated for compression and edge-impact, on pallets sized for slab geometry rather than standard footprints.

VKI and the engineering belt

The integrated business city near Ajmer Road and the older Vishwakarma Industrial Area (VKI) on the city's north-western edge bring in engineering goods, auto components and contract-manufacturing exporters. Sheet sizes follow standard 8x4 ft formats, with cut-to-size options available on bulk orders. Face options include commercial/rubberwood for the working packing range and an Okoume veneer face where a cleaner export aesthetic matters.

Built crates and pallets

For exporters who would rather buy a finished crate than build in-house, we fabricate wooden crates and pallets to drawing. Pallet sizes commonly ordered for Jaipur runs include the 1200x800 mm Euro footprint and the 1200x1000 mm standard for North American freight. Marble exporters often need non-standard pallet geometries — long, narrow decks with reinforced bearers — which we build to spec.

Container flooring

Kochi to Jaipur, by road or coastal trans-ship

Jaipur is roughly 2,000 km from our dispatch points in Kerala. The standard road route runs Kochi to Bengaluru, then up via Mumbai or via the Hyderabad-Nagpur-Indore corridor before joining NH-48 into Jaipur. Full-truckload (FTL) plywood consignments typically run 4 to 6 days door-to-door depending on weather, checkposts and the season. We work with established trucking partners on the Kerala-to-Rajasthan lane, which keeps freight predictable and avoids the surcharge volatility of spot-market trucks.

For large or recurring orders, we can also route via Nhava Sheva (JNPT) coastal shipping to Mundra Port, then trans-ship by road to Jaipur. This is sometimes economical for container-load volumes during peak monsoon disruptions on the inland route. Either way, our quotes are issued ex-Kochi with GST and freight stated separately, so the buyer can compare landed costs cleanly. Export crates and pallets leave heat-treated and ISPM-15 stamped, with phytosanitary documentation travelling with the consignment.

Choosing a grade

Which grade for which job

Jaipur's range of cargo means a single grade rarely fits every order. The rules below match material to application.

• Use MR-Packing (commercial/rubberwood face) for general export crates, handicraft cases, engineering sub-assembly boxes, and any dry-cargo packaging that does not need a cosmetic outer face. Best price-to-performance for high-volume crate makers.
• Step up to an Okoume veneer face where the crate's outer appearance matters — premium jewellery boxes, high-end home-decor exports, and buyer-facing display crates. Okoume is a face-veneer choice on the same packing-grade body, not a separate grade.
• Use BWR or shuttering ply for marble and stone packing where compression loads, humidity exposure during port transit, and edge impact are real risks. The same grade serves container flooring and pallet decks intended for repeated use.
• Use sawn hardwood for crate bracing, corner posts and skids — never sub-grade pine for heavy export work bound for marine transit.

Yes. Crates and pallets bound for export are heat-treated and stamped to ISPM-15 standards. We issue the relevant phytosanitary documentation with the consignment so the exporter can clear customs without delay.
