Packing-grade plywood, crates and pallets for Mysuru's IT, coffee and engineering exporters
We manufacture the packing-grade and Okoume-faced plywood, export crates and pallets that Mysuru's exporters ship on. Manufactured in Perumbavoor by a group operating since 1986, dispatched direct down the Kochi-Mysuru lane in 11-13 hours.
The industrial picture
Where Mysuru's packing demand sits
Mysuru occupies an unusual sweet spot for the packing-plywood trade: a Tier-2 city carrying Tier-1 export weight. IT hardware moves out of Hebbal, coffee leaves for Europe via Chennai and Mangalore ports, and light engineering ships from the KIADB industrial estates. Each of those flows ends in a wooden box, a crate or a pallet. The specification changes meaningfully depending on which belt you sit in.
Hebbal Industrial Area and the IT corridor
Hebbal anchors the city's IT hardware, electronics manufacturing and back-office infrastructure. Large software and services campuses dominate, but the spillover into hardware assembly, server-rack manufacture and electronic sub-assembly creates a constant pull on close-tolerance crates: boxes where the plywood face has to take printing, the corners have to survive multi-modal handling, and moisture migration during a monsoon transit is a real concern.
Belagola, Metagalli and Hootagalli
These older KIADB estates carry the city's light and medium engineering load: pumps, electrical switchgear, auto components and machine-tool sub-assemblies. Crates here are heavier, often above 500 kg gross, and the spec sheet is dominated by ISPM-15 stamps for export and heat-treatment compliance for domestic rail movement.
Coffee and agri-export cluster
Mysuru is a national centre for coffee processing and roasting, supplied by the Kodagu and Chikkamagaluru estates upstream. Bulk coffee — green bean in jute bags, instant coffee in steel drums, specialty roasts in cartons — moves out in containerised loads that need either solid wooden pallets or composite plywood-deck pallets to keep cargo off the container floor through humid sea voyages.
Aerospace SEZ and the upcoming corridor
The aerospace SEZ and the proposed Mysuru-Bengaluru expressway expansion are pulling in precision-engineering tenants. These buyers tend to want premium veneer faces, tighter dimensional tolerance and traceability on the plywood — a different conversation from the volume packing-case market.
What we ship
Four product families do most of the Mysuru work
We manufacture through our own facilities under CWI specifications, with group operations running in Perumbavoor since 1986. For the Mysuru lane, four product families carry most of the volume.
Packing-grade plywood (the workhorse)
Our MR-Packing grade is the default for box and crate manufacturers across Karnataka. Standard panel: 8 ft x 4 ft, thicknesses from 6 mm to 18 mm. The most common pulls into Mysuru:
| Thickness | Typical Mysuru use |
|---|---|
| 6 mm & 8 mm | Inner partitions, lids and lightweight cartons |
| 10 mm & 12 mm | General-purpose export boxes up to ~300 kg gross |
| 16 mm & 18 mm | Heavy engineering crates, machinery skids and pallet decks |
The glue line is phenolic-bonded for the BWR variant where moisture or sea transit is in the picture. Face veneers are typically commercial hardwood; Okoume and Gurjan faces are available as options on the same MR-Packing and BWR cores when you need a cleaner printing surface or improved cosmetic finish.
Assembled crates and packing cases
For exporters who would rather receive a finished crate than build one in-house, we ship knocked-down (KD) or fully-assembled cases cut to internal-dimension drawings. ISPM-15 heat-treatment marking and fumigation are coordinated for export-bound consignments.
Wooden pallets
Two-way and four-way entry pallets in standard footprints — 1200 x 1000 mm and 1200 x 800 mm being the most-asked — with plywood-deck or sawn-timber-deck options. Pallet thickness and deck-board specification are matched to the load: 12 mm plywood deck for ~500 kg static loads, stepping up to 18 mm or solid timber for the 1-tonne-plus engineering crates.
Container flooring plywood
For the freight-forwarding and container-refurbishment trade, 28 mm IICL-spec container flooring sheets in 2400 x 1160 mm and similar formats are available on indent.
Logistics
The Kochi-to-Mysuru lane
This is where a Kerala-based manufacturer holds a real, defensible cost advantage over a North Indian source.
| Parameter | Detail |
|---|---|
| Distance | Approximately 480 km via NH-766 (Kochi - Walayar - Coimbatore - Mysuru) |
| Transit time | 11-13 hours for a standard truck under normal conditions |
| Typical truck | 20 ft and 22 ft open-body trucks; 32 ft multi-axle for full loads |
| Loadability | ~800-1000 sheets of 12 mm in a 32 ft trailer, depending on packing |
| Cut-off for next-day arrival | Despatch by ~14:00 from Perumbavoor |
Because the trucking lane runs through a single ghat (Walayar) and re-enters Karnataka at the Bandipur edge, there is no interstate transhipment penalty. Most Mysuru loads dispatched on a Monday afternoon are unloading at Hebbal or Belagola by Tuesday evening. For comparison, plywood sourced from the North Indian belt typically books 4-6 days of transit and an additional handling event at a Bengaluru transshipment hub.
Choosing a grade
Which grade for which load
The Mysuru order mix is broad enough that a single specification rarely fits. A working decision rule:
- MR-Packing grade — IT hardware crates, domestic-bound engineering crates, and light-to-medium export boxes where the journey is overland or a short sea leg. This is 70-80 percent of our Mysuru volume.
- BWR (boiling-water-resistant) with an Okoume or Gurjan face — long-haul sea export to Europe, the GCC and ASEAN; cosmetic crates where the wood grain shows on the finished package; coffee and agri-export loads that sit in humid containers for 3-5 weeks.
- Shuttering ply — for the Mysuru construction sector, including the expressway projects and commercial real estate around the ring road. Film-faced shuttering plywood in 12 mm and 18 mm is the volume call.
If you are unsure, share the gross weight, the dispatch destination and the mode of transport, and we will reverse-engineer the lightest specification that still survives the journey. There is no commercial reason to over-engineer a domestic box with marine-grade plywood, and we will say so.
FAQ
Common questions from Mysuru buyers
Do you have a depot in Mysuru?
No, and that is a deliberate cost decision. We dispatch direct from our Perumbavoor manufacturing belt on a confirmed-order basis, which keeps overhead out of the per-sheet price. For repeat buyers we maintain a rolling production slot so lead time stays under a week.
What is the minimum order quantity?
For sheet plywood, we prefer to dispatch part-loads of 200 sheets and above to keep freight efficient; smaller orders are possible but the per-sheet landed cost climbs. For assembled crates and pallets, the minimum is typically one full truckload to make the dispatch viable.
Can you handle ISPM-15 stamping and export documentation?
Yes. Heat-treatment, fumigation and the IPPC mark are coordinated for export-bound consignments. Share the destination country and the consignee's wood-packaging requirements and we will build the specification accordingly.
Get a quote
A Mysuru-specific quote
If you are sourcing packing plywood, crates, pallets or container flooring into the Mysuru belt — Hebbal, Belagola, Metagalli, Hootagalli, or the coffee and aerospace clusters — the fastest route is to request a quote with your thickness, monthly volume and dispatch destination. We will come back with an ex-Perumbavoor rate, a freight estimate to your unloading point, and a realistic dispatch date. For specification reading — grade comparisons, ISPM-15 notes, packing-case design — the resource hub carries the working documents we share with trade buyers. Our group has manufactured plywood in Perumbavoor since 1986; the goal of the Mysuru lane is to make that depth of supply feel like a local relationship.
