The face of the moon was in shadow

Almost before we knew it, we had left the ground. All their equipment and instruments are alive.Mist enveloped the ship three hours out from port. The spectacle before us was indeed sublime.A red flair silhouetted the jagged edge of a wing.

FOB Cochin, explained for plywood buyers

5 min read · Cochin Wood Industries export desk

Short answer:FOB Cochin (Free On Board, Cochin) means we deliver your plywood loaded onto your vessel at Cochin Port — Vallarpadam ICTT — fully export-cleared, and from that point you arrange the sea freight, marine insurance and import. It's the cleanest term for comparing supplier prices and controlling your own shipping line.

What FOB Cochin includes (our side)

When we quote FOB Cochin, our price covers everything up to and including loading the goods on board:

  • The plywood or packaging, to your confirmed grade and specification.
  • Export packing — including ISPM-15 treatment where solid wood is involved.
  • Inland transport from our group's Perumbavoor operations to the port (about 40 km).
  • Export customs clearance and documentation — commercial invoice, packing list, phytosanitary certificate where applicable, and the bill of lading.
  • Loading the container onto the vessel at Vallarpadam ICTT.

What you arrange (buyer's side)

  • Ocean freight from Cochin to your destination port.
  • Marine insurance for the voyage.
  • Import customs, duties and taxes at your end.
  • Final delivery from the destination port to your facility.

Many buyers prefer this because they (or their freight forwarder) often secure better ocean-freight rates and keep control of routing and schedules.

Quoting FOB Cochin lets you compare supplier prices on a like-for-like basis, choose your own carrier, and consolidate freight across orders.

Prefer a different term?

We can also quote CFR or CIF to your destination port if you'd rather we arrange the freight (and insurance). Tell us your port and preference and we'll quote both ways. See contact the export desk.

FAQ

What does FOB Cochin include?

The goods, export packing, inland transport to Cochin Port, export clearance and documents, and loading onto your vessel. Ocean freight, insurance and import are arranged by you.

Who pays the sea freight under FOB?

You do. Under FOB the buyer arranges and pays ocean freight and marine insurance from the loading port onward — which is why many buyers prefer it: they control routing and rates.

Which port do you load from?

Cochin — Vallarpadam ICTT (International Container Transhipment Terminal), about 40 km from our Perumbavoor operations.
