Packing-grade plywood, export crates and pallets for Amritsar's textile, brassware and dry-fruit belt
We manufacture the packing-grade plywood, made-up crates and heat-treated pallets that Amritsar's exporters load every month. Built in Perumbavoor by a group operating since 1986, shipped up the western trunk route to your gate.
The industrial picture
Three export engines, all running on plywood
Amritsar runs on three export engines that all consume packing plywood: the denim and ready-made garment cluster in the East and West industrial focal points, the centuries-old brassware and utensil belt around Jandiala Guru, and the dry-fruit and spice trade flowing through the Integrated Check Post at Attari. Add the food-processing units in Verka and Mehta Road, the auto-component vendors feeding the Punjab cluster, and the ICP-Attari overland trade with Afghanistan and Central Asia, and the city becomes one of North India's denser pockets of bulk packing demand.
Buyers in Amritsar tend to sit in a few well-defined belts. Knowing which belt a consignment is bound for usually tells us the right plywood spec before the buyer has opened a sample.
- East and West Focal Point (Verka, Mehta Road) — the largest organised industrial estates in the district, anchored by textile processing, ready-made garments, denim, food and beverage units, and auto components. Most export crates for apparel and finished goods originate here.
- Jandiala Guru brassware cluster — a 200-year-old hand-beaten brass and bell-metal hub. Heavy, awkward, scratch-sensitive utensils that ship to the GCC, the UK and the US in cushioned wooden cases.
- Chheharta and G.T. Road belt — engineering, hand-tools, agro-machinery and smaller fabricators. Mixed packing requirements, from a 6 mm sheet for a light carton liner up to a 25 mm shuttering board for a foundation pour.
- ICP Attari trade corridor — dry fruits (almonds, pistachios, raisins, figs), spices and cement crossing into and out of Afghanistan. Wooden cases here see rough handling across two borders and Punjab winters.
- Rajasansi airport cargo and the Amritsar–Delhi freight lane — feeders for air-freight crates and high-value consolidations heading to the IGI cargo terminal.
The common thread is bulk, cost-sensitive packaging that still has to survive a 1,500 km road run, a sea container or an air-cargo handover. That is the brief our packing-grade plywood is built for.
What we ship
Sheets, crates, pallets and flooring from one operation
Packing-grade plywood — the workhorse
The bulk of Amritsar's order book is commercial / rubberwood plywood in standard 8 ft x 4 ft sheets across the packing-grade thickness range — 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 18 mm. The 12 mm and 18 mm sheets do most of the heavy lifting (case walls, lids, base boards). 6 mm and 8 mm go into liners, dividers and internal cushioning for brassware and dry-fruit cartons. Thicker 18 mm and 25 mm boards build the skids and base frames that take the forklift load.
Made-up crates and packing cases
For the textile and apparel exporters in the Focal Point, and for the brassware shippers in Jandiala Guru, we manufacture finished crates cut and pre-assembled to drawing — open-top, closed, slotted, or two-piece with screwed lids. Typical specs that move:
- Garment export cases — 18 mm walls, 12 mm internal partitions, 25 mm skid base, three-runner bottom.
- Brassware crates — 18 mm panels with 8 mm internal lining for scratch protection, corner-block reinforcement.
- Dry-fruit and spice cases — heat-treated to ISPM-15, lower thickness (12–15 mm) where load allows, stencilled with the IPPC mark.
Pallets — ISPM-15 stamped
The standard four-way-entry 1200 x 1000 mm and 1200 x 800 mm Euro footprints move regularly, alongside custom sizes for awkward brassware and machinery loads. All export pallets are heat-treated and IPPC-stamped at a registered facility so Attari and JNPT clear them without query.
Container flooring and shuttering ply
For the auto-component and machinery shippers loading 20 ft and 40 ft containers out of ICD Dhandari Kalan and ICD Ludhiana, we supply 28 mm container-flooring plywood. The agro and infra builders along G.T. Road buy our BWR shuttering plywood for slab and column work, where re-use cycles matter more than finish.
Logistics
Kochi to Amritsar, up the western corridor
The lane runs roughly 2,500 km by road — Kochi up through Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Udaipur and Delhi into Amritsar. A standard 32 ft single-axle or multi-axle trailer takes 6–8 days door-to-door depending on the season and the driver's run. We aggregate sheet orders into full-truck loads of roughly 18–22 tonnes (around 800–1,000 sheets of 18 mm equivalent), the cost-efficient lot size for the lane. Smaller orders go part-load through scheduled freight movers running the Kochi–Delhi–Amritsar leg, with 10–14 day transit. Both options land at the buyer's gate with sealed-truck delivery and a single LR for reconciliation.
For larger or recurring buyers, we can quote ex-Cochin port (FOB) and route via coastal feeder to Mundra Port, then road into Amritsar — the maths sometimes favours this for 40 ft container loads of finished crates and pallets. Export pallets and crates ship heat-treated and IPPC-stamped, with the treatment certificate travelling alongside the LR so the documentation closes at dispatch.
Choosing a grade
Which spec for which job
| Amritsar use case | Recommended spec | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Garment / denim export crates | Packing-grade commercial ply, 12 mm walls, 18 mm base | Cost-efficient, dimensionally stable for stacked sea-freight loads. |
| Brassware export cases | Packing-grade 18 mm + 8 mm liner, ISPM-15 treated | Scratch protection on soft brass surfaces; border-compliant. |
| Dry-fruit cases via ICP Attari | 12–15 mm packing-grade, IPPC stamped | Lighter case weight where load is moderate; treated for overland border movement. |
| Auto-component / machinery export | 18 mm packing ply with Okoume face for premium finish | An Okoume face panel gives a cleaner look for end-customer-facing crates without the cost of full Okoume construction. |
| Container flooring | 28 mm container-flooring plywood | Load rating for forklift traffic inside the box. |
| Site shuttering — infra and real-estate | BWR shuttering plywood, 12 mm | Multiple-pour re-use; resists Punjab monsoon damp. |
Where a buyer is unsure, our default position is simple: order packing-grade for case walls and bases, and add an Okoume face only where the crate is end-customer visible or the importer specifies a premium finish. Okoume here is a face-veneer option on the packing and BWR grades, not a separate grade.
FAQ
Common questions from Amritsar buyers
Do you supply heat-treated, IPPC-stamped pallets for Attari and JNPT clearance?
Yes. All export pallets and crates can be heat-treated at a registered facility and stencilled with the IPPC mark to ISPM-15. We send the treatment certificate with the LR so the export documentation is closed at dispatch.
What is the minimum order size you can ship to Amritsar?
Full truck loads (around 800–1,000 sheets of 18 mm equivalent, or the equivalent in made-up crates and pallets) are the most cost-efficient. Smaller part-load consignments are possible through scheduled freight movers — transit stretches to 10–14 days and per-sheet freight goes up, but it is workable for trial orders.
Can you cut crates to drawing, or do you only ship sheets?
Both. We ship raw sheets to Amritsar packers who build cases in-house, and we manufacture pre-cut, pre-assembled crates and pallets to specification for buyers who would rather receive finished packing units at the gate.
