Export crates and packing cases

When a customer prefers finished crates over sheets, we cut, batten and bolt to drawing in Kerala and ship the assembled or knock-down case. CKD bicycle crates, tyre-stack crates, machinery and engineering-good cases all sit in this lane. Heat-treatment to ISPM-15 is available where the destination port demands it, with the IPPC stamp applied to the batten.

Wooden pallets

Standard four-way entry pallets in 1200x1000 mm and 1200x800 mm sizes, plus custom skid-bases sized to the load. For warehousing customers in Murthal and along the expressway, the standard ISO sizes are the high-runner; for OEM-bound auto-component shipments, custom sizes built to the cage or rack are more common.

Container flooring and dunnage

For steel coils, machinery and heavy export, container-floor grade plywood at 18 mm or above acts as the load-bearing floor over the existing container floor, distributing point loads and protecting the box. Dunnage strips and chocks ship from the same family of timber.

How the Kochi-to-Sonipat lane runs

Kochi to Sonipat is roughly 2,300 km by road, four to six days transit on the standard trunk route through Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Nagpur and into the NCR via the Agra-Faridabad approach. For sheet plywood and pre-cut components, the road option works because the load is dense and stacks well in a 32-foot or 40-foot truck.

For larger volumes, the rail-and-road combination via ICD Tughlakabad makes more sense: Cochin Port to JNPT or Mundra, ICD rake to Tughlakabad, last-mile truck to Sonipat. The maths depends on monthly volume and the customer's willingness to break stock into ICD-pickup batches. Where the load is mixed plywood plus finished crates, we route the crates by direct truck and palletise the sheets for the rail leg. For crates that need it, the ISPM-15 heat-treatment and IPPC stamp are applied before dispatch so the consignment clears phytosanitary checks at the destination port.

Choosing a grade

Which grade for which Sonipat load

  • Packing-grade MR plywood is the default for export crates carrying bicycles, tyres, auto-components and general engineering goods. It is the most cost-efficient board for one-way export packaging.
  • BWR / BWP grades earn their cost when the cargo is high-value, the sea voyage is long, or the customer ships into humid coastal destinations through the monsoon. For Sonipat buyers exporting to GCC, Africa or South-East Asia, BWR makes sense on premium SKUs.
  • Okoume-faced packing ply is a face-veneer option on the MR-Packing and BWR grades, not a separate grade. It is the right call when the buyer specifies a light, uniform face for branded crates or when the destination customer rejects darker veneer faces.
  • Shuttering plywood is the wrong choice for export packing but the right choice for construction sites and infrastructure project buyers in the district. Different grade, different conversation.
