Packing plywood, crates and pallets for Ghaziabad's engineering and railway belts
We manufacture the packing-grade plywood, wooden cases and pallets that move finished goods out of Ghaziabad's industrial estates. Built in Perumbavoor, where our group has run plywood operations since 1986, and dispatched up the trunk line to the National Capital Region.
The industrial picture
Ghaziabad runs like a workshop for half of north India
Ghaziabad sits at the eastern edge of the National Capital Region and behaves like a workshop for half of north India. Heavy engineering, railway component fabrication, defence electronics and a sprawl of light-engineering MSMEs all run shifts here, and almost every one of them eventually needs a wooden case, a pallet or a sheet of packing-grade plywood to move finished goods out of the gate. That demand is what brings us up the trunk line from Kochi.
The city's manufacturing footprint is concentrated across a handful of well-defined belts, and a packing-grade plywood supplier has to think in those terms rather than treating the city as a single market. The major clusters are:
- Sahibabad Industrial Area — one of north India's older organised estates, home to heavy engineering units, electrical equipment makers and component suppliers feeding both railway and defence supply chains.
- Mohan Nagar industrial belt — a mix of mid-sized engineering shops, steel fabrication and process units that crate goods for inter-state dispatch and export.
- Site IV, Sahibabad and the South Side GT Road corridor — denser MSME activity, machined parts, fasteners and ancillaries for the auto and railway sector.
- Bulandshahr Road Industrial Area (BRIA) — heavier and more land-extensive units, including sheet-metal and structural fabrication that needs flat-bed pallet packing.
- Loni and Tronica City — newer engineering and electronics clusters where export-grade crating is common.
Layered on top of that is a defence-electronics ecosystem and its vendor base, plus a dense network of railway component suppliers serving the Northern and North Central railway zones. Both verticals are sensitive packers: they want predictable plywood thickness, square-cut edges and crates that survive multi-mode handling without giving way.
What we ship
Three product families on the Ghaziabad lane
Our Ghaziabad lane is dominated by three product families, all manufactured to Cochin Wood specifications at our Perumbavoor facilities.
Packing-grade plywood (commercial / rubberwood core)
This is the workhorse. Engineering shops in Sahibabad and Mohan Nagar buy it by the truckload to build their own crates, base frames and case lids in-house. Standard thickness ladder we ship into the NCR:
| Thickness | Typical use |
|---|---|
| 6 mm & 8 mm | Case linings, top covers, lightweight inner partitions |
| 10 mm & 12 mm | Most common case-wall thickness for medium-weight railway and electrical components |
| 14 mm, 15 mm & 16 mm | Case walls and tops for heavier loads, transformer parts, switchgear |
| 18 mm | Base boards, skid tops and crate floors for loads above 500 kg |
Sheet sizes are typically 8x4 ft, with 7x4 and 6x4 cut to order when a customer wants to reduce in-house cutting waste. All rates are quoted ex-factory; GST and transport are extra and quoted lane-specific for Ghaziabad.
Finished crates and packing cases
For defence electronics, instrumentation and any consignment going to a port, we deliver fully built, ISPM-15 compliant cases — heat-treated, stencilled with the IPPC mark and ready to load. The construction logic for Ghaziabad's typical loads:
- Base: 18 mm plywood skid with hardwood runners (jackwood or rubberwood) sized to the consignment weight.
- Walls and ends: 12 mm or 15 mm packing-grade plywood, framed with seasoned hardwood battens.
- Top: 10 mm or 12 mm with cleats for lift-off access.
- Inner cushioning, VCI lining and silica sachets when the buyer specifies, common for sensitive electronics.
Pallets
The Ghaziabad pallet mix is roughly half four-way export pallets (1200 x 1000 mm, 1200 x 800 mm) and half custom-size two-way pallets for in-plant movement. We supply both, heat-treated where the load is heading out of India. Pallet decks are typically 12 mm to 18 mm plywood on a hardwood frame; sawn-timber-only pallets are available for buyers who prefer the conventional plank-deck design.
Container flooring
Container refurbishers and a handful of CFS operators in the wider NCR pull container-floor plywood — typically 28 mm phenolic-bonded, exterior-grade boards. We quote this on a project basis since the spec varies by buyer.
Logistics
Kochi to Ghaziabad — how the lane actually runs
The road distance from our Perumbavoor manufacturing belt to Ghaziabad is roughly 2,400 km. Two routes matter:
- Direct road via the NH 44 trunk line — Kochi to Bengaluru to Hyderabad to Nagpur to Agra to Ghaziabad. A full truckload (32 ft single-axle or 22-ft container truck) typically takes 5 to 7 working days depending on driver pairing and weigh-bridge queues. This is the default for crate consignments and full-truck plywood orders.
- Coastal / rail multimodal — for very large packing-plywood orders, FOB Cochin via rail rake to a north India ICD (Tughlakabad or Dadri) can work out cheaper per square foot, with a final road leg to Ghaziabad. Transit is longer (10 to 14 days) but the per-sheet freight drops noticeably above roughly 30 tonnes.
For most Ghaziabad buyers — engineering shops ordering 200 to 800 sheets at a time, or crate buyers needing 20 to 60 finished cases — the direct truck route is the right call. We pre-load at our Perumbavoor yard, seal and dispatch with GPS-tracked transporters who run the south-to-NCR lane regularly.
Choosing a grade
Which grade for which Ghaziabad load
A short decision rule we share with new buyers in the NCR:
| Use case | Recommended material |
|---|---|
| Standard engineering crates, switchgear, motors, machined parts | Packing-grade commercial / rubberwood plywood, 12–15 mm walls, 18 mm base |
| Defence electronics, instrumentation, export-bound consignments needing premium finish | Okoume face veneer on the MR-Packing or BWR grade — cleaner face, dimensionally stable, takes stencilling well |
| Heavy structural fabrications, transformer tanks, machinery skids | 18 mm packing-grade base with hardwood runners; sawn timber bracing |
| Reusable in-plant pallets carrying steel coils or castings | Hardwood plank pallets or 18 mm ply-deck pallets |
| Shuttering for civil works (occasional for industrial buyers) | Film-faced shuttering ply, 12 mm or 18 mm |
Okoume is a face-veneer option, not a separate grade — it sits on top of our MR-Packing or BWR cores and is the right pick when a buyer needs a cleaner-looking, more uniform crate surface for export-grade dispatch.
FAQ
Questions Ghaziabad buyers usually ask first
What is the minimum order quantity for a Ghaziabad delivery?
For loose plywood, one full truck (roughly 600 to 900 sheets depending on thickness mix) is the economic minimum on the direct road route. For built-up crates, we typically take orders from 20 cases upward. Smaller orders are possible, but freight per unit rises sharply.
Are your crates ISPM-15 compliant for export consignments?
Yes. We supply heat-treated, IPPC-stencilled wooden packaging through licensed treatment facilities. The IPPC mark, treatment code and country code are stencilled on two opposite faces as required by ISPM-15. Useful for any consignment leaving Ghaziabad via Mundra, Nhava Sheva or air cargo from Delhi.
How are rates quoted — landed or ex-factory?
All standard rates are ex-factory, GST and transport extra. For Ghaziabad we quote freight separately because lane rates move with diesel and seasonal demand. Once thickness, monthly quantity and exact delivery address are confirmed, we issue a proforma invoice with a landed rate the buyer can plan against.

Working with us
Our group has been in the Perumbavoor plywood belt since 1986 — roughly 40 years of group manufacturing experience feeding into how we cut, glue and build packing cases today. That workshop know-how sits behind every crate we ship to the engineering plants we serve in Ghaziabad.
If you run packing, dispatch or procurement for an engineering, railway or defence-electronics unit anywhere in the Ghaziabad industrial belt — Sahibabad, Mohan Nagar, BRIA, Loni, Tronica City — we are set up to quote, sample and deliver on the trunk-line route from Kochi. Share thickness, monthly volume, delivery PIN code and the load profile, and we will come back with a thickness recommendation, an ex-factory rate and a Ghaziabad-landed price the same day.
