Why Noida's industrial belt drives serious plywood demand

If you build packing cases anywhere on the Noida-Greater Noida-YEIDA corridor, your bill of materials almost certainly leans on commercial plywood, hardwood runners and the occasional Okoume face for export units. Noida is India's electronics manufacturing capital, with large mobile-handset assembly plants in Sector 81, an appliance and display cluster around Greater Noida, semiconductor and contract-manufacturing units feeding the consumer-electronics majors, and a long tail of component suppliers across the UPSIDC sectors. Every one of those units puts finished goods into wooden cases, slip-sheets onto pallets, or loads CKD kits into export containers floored with packing-grade ply.

Plywood demand in Noida isn't one market, it's at least four overlapping ones, each with its own grade preference and crate geometry. Knowing which sector a buyer sits in tells us almost immediately what they need.

The electronics export cluster

Sector 81, the IT and electronics offices in Sector 62, the Surajpur Industrial Area in Greater Noida, and the YEIDA notified zones near Jewar all push out mobile phones, smart TVs, set-top boxes, washing machines and components. Mobile CKD packs leave in stackable plywood boxes built from 9mm or 12mm commercial ply with hardwood runners. Larger appliance exporters need 18mm shuttering or BWR sheets cut to international pallet footprints.

The auto-component belt at Sector 63-69

The Noida Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) and the Sector 63-67 industrial blocks house tier-2 and tier-3 auto suppliers feeding the passenger-vehicle and two-wheeler plants across the wider NCR. Castings, gears, sheet-metal assemblies — every one of these ships in cleated plywood crates built to ISPM-15 for export consignments to Europe and North America.

Engineering, defence and instrumentation

Sectors 1 through 16, along with parts of Sahibabad across the Hindon, host heavy-engineering and instrumentation units. These buyers source 18mm and 25mm packing ply for one-off transit crates and skids around lathes, transformers and DG sets.

Logistics, 3PL and warehousing

The Dadri Multi-Modal Logistics Hub on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, plus the bonded warehouses in the area, run on standardised 1200x1000mm and 1100x1100mm wooden pallets. That is a recurring, predictable plywood-top-deck order for any packing-case maker who lands those contracts.

Packing-grade plywood (MR-Packing)

Commercial / rubberwood plywood in 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 18mm thicknesses. Standard 8x4 ft sheets, also available in 7x4 and 6x4. Okoume-faced plywood

Where the buyer needs a cleaner export face — pharma machinery, premium electronics, defence — we offer an Okoume veneer over the same packing core. Okoume is a face-veneer option, not a separate grade: it is the same MR-Packing or BWR construction with an Okoume face instead of the standard hardwood face. Useful when the consignee in Europe or the Gulf inspects crate aesthetics.

Shuttering plywood

16mm and 18mm film-faced or plain shuttering ply for the construction sites still active across YEIDA, the Noida International Airport zone at Jewar and the perimeter infrastructure projects. Same Kochi origin, same manufacturing discipline.

Hardwood runners and sawn sections

Jackwood at ₹400/cft (¼-inch minus tolerance) and rubberwood runners cut to the sizes your jig demands. Most Noida packing-case makers buy a sheet-plus-runner combo from us, which cuts their inward GST friction and consolidates freight.

Container flooring and pallet decks

For 20ft and 40ft container retrofits and for pallet manufacturers selling into the Dadri 3PL clusters, we cut 18-25mm panels to standard footprints (1200x1000, 1200x800, 1100x1100, 1219x1016 GMA).

Kochi to Noida — the logistics reality

The lane is roughly 2,400 km by road. Cochin Port to Noida via NH-44 / NH-48, the typical truck gets in at day 5-6 on a single-driver run, day 4 on a relay. We ship in 20ft and 32ft full-truck loads ex-factory Perumbavoor; GST and freight are extra of the sheet rate.

For repeat buyers placing monthly orders, we hold inward stock-rotation discipline so you can pull two trucks a month on a steady cadence rather than scrambling spot. For exporters on a tighter clock, we can pre-cut to your CAD-marked sizes at the Perumbavoor end and load directly to your strapping line.

Which grade for which Noida load — decision rules

A simple operator's heuristic for Noida buyers choosing between our main grades:

• Domestic transit, inland consignee, short shelf-life crate — MR-Packing commercial ply, 9mm or 12mm. Cheapest sq.ft. that holds nails.
• Export to Gulf / SE Asia / Europe, sea freight, ISPM-15 stamped — same MR-Packing core, but specify heat-treated runners and full ISPM-15 marking. Most Noida electronics CKDs land here.
• Premium-face export crate (pharma, defence, instrumentation) — Okoume face on MR-Packing or BWR core. Higher cost, but the consignee sees a clean light-cream face.
• Heavy machinery skid, multi-leg ocean+inland transit — 18mm BWR or shuttering ply for the deck, hardwood bearers underneath. Worth the upcharge when the load is one-of-one.
• Pallet top-decks, repeat use — 12mm MR-Packing for single-use export pallets; 15-18mm BWR for returnable / 3PL fleet pallets.

FAQ

FAQ from Noida buyers

Do you cover ISPM-15 stamping?

The plywood we supply is engineered and exempt from ISPM-15 — only the solid-wood runners need heat-treatment and the IPPC stamp. We can supply heat-treated jackwood and rubberwood runners pre-stamped by an authorised agency, so your finished crate ships without customs friction.

Minimum order quantity for the Noida lane?

For a viable single-trip FTL, the practical minimum is roughly one full truck, about 600-700 sheets of 12mm or equivalent mix. For smaller volumes we can consolidate with another Noida-bound load if timing aligns; ask when you enquire.

Can you cut sheets to a specific size before dispatch?
