Packing-grade plywood, crates and pallets for Meerut's sports goods and machinery exporters
We manufacture the packing-grade plywood, knocked-down crate sets and pallets that Meerut's export belts stuff into containers every month. Our group has manufactured in Perumbavoor since 1986, and we ship direct to Suraj Kund, Partapur and Modipuram from our Kochi yards.
The industrial picture
A western UP city that quietly exports a great deal
Meerut does more export packing than most people realise. The sports goods belt around Suraj Kund and Sotiganj alone moves containers of cricket bats, balls and protective gear to the UK, Australia, the Gulf and Africa every month. Add the publishing-machinery cluster around Partapur, the scissors-and-shears trade, and a steady stream of auto-component shipments out of Modipuram, and the city's packing-plywood demand is steady, year-round and surprisingly specific.
Meerut sits about 70 km north-east of Delhi on NH-58, inside the National Capital Region's manufacturing pull but with its own distinct industrial DNA. A few belts matter for plywood demand:
- Suraj Kund and Sotiganj sports goods cluster — the historic centre of the Indian cricket-equipment trade. Bats, balls, pads, gloves and protective wear are made here and exported through the ICDs at Tughlakabad, Loni and Garhi Harsaru. Most of this freight ships in wooden crates or on plywood-decked pallets because freight underwriters and overseas buyers ask for it.
- Partapur Industrial Area — the larger UPSIDC estate on the Delhi road. Printing-and-publishing machinery makers, transformer and electrical component manufacturers, and food-processing units all sit here. Heavy, dense machine consignments need ISPM-15 crates and proper bracing-grade plywood.
- Mohkampur, Udyog Puram and Modipuram — auto components, agricultural implements and metal fabrication. Pallet-heavy buyers.
- Scissors and shears trade in the old city — smaller cartons mostly, but bulk export consolidators in this trade still buy plywood-bottom master cases.
The common thread: most of Meerut's high-value shipments leave the country, and packing failure is not an option. That puts a real floor under the quality of plywood the city's packing-case makers and exporters can use.
What we ship
Four product families into Meerut
We supply four product families into Meerut. The mix on any given truck depends on what is being packed.
Packing-grade plywood
This is the workhorse. Hardwood-core, phenolic-bonded plywood in 8 ft x 4 ft sheets, available in 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 14 mm, 15 mm, 16 mm and 18 mm. For the sports goods exporters, 8 mm and 10 mm are most common — light enough to keep the cubic-metre weight of a cricket-bat container in check, strong enough to survive port handling. For the publishing-machinery and transformer crowd, 12 mm to 18 mm is the right band because the loads are dense and the crate has to take stacking pressure in the container.
Knocked-down crate sets
For exporters who do not want to run a captive carpentry shop, we ship pre-cut crate components — top, bottom, sides, ends, runners — heat-treated and stencilled ISPM-15 where required. This shortens the loading window in Partapur from days to hours.
Pallets
Two-way and four-way entry pallets, hardwood blocks or stringers, sized to the buyer's container plan. Standard sizes for Meerut buyers tend to be 1200 x 1000 mm (Euro-style for UK/EU lanes) and 1100 x 1100 mm (Gulf and ASEAN lanes). Heat-treated and stamped where the destination requires it.
Container flooring plywood
Heavy 18 mm plywood for repair and refit of dry vans and trailer beds. The Modipuram and Mohkampur trucking fleets running between Meerut and the Mundra and Nhava Sheva ICDs are steady buyers for this.
Logistics
Kochi to Meerut
Meerut sits roughly 2,400 km by road from our Kochi loading yards. The lane we use most:
- Route: Kochi → Salem → Bengaluru → Hyderabad → Nagpur → Gwalior → Agra → Meerut, mostly on NH-44 and NH-58.
- Transit time: 6 to 8 days for a single-driver truck, 4 to 5 days with a two-driver relay. We plan to either.
- Truck size: the standard option is a 32-ft multi-axle carrying about 18 to 20 tonnes of mixed-thickness plywood. For full-crate orders we use 32-ft high-cube bodies that handle bulky knocked-down sets without crushing.
- Alternative: for very large orders we FOB Cochin to Mundra or JNPT by coastal vessel and rail the container to Tughlakabad ICD for last-mile to Meerut. This works for orders that fill a 20-ft or 40-ft container outright.
For export consignments we heat-treat at registered facilities and stencil the IPPC ISPM-15 mark, so the crates and pallets clear quarantine at destination. GST and transport are billed extra on top of our ex-factory price card. We share a landed-cost estimate with the proforma invoice, so the Meerut buyer knows the full delivered number before committing.
Choosing a grade
Which grade fits which Meerut load
A quick decision rule based on what we see most often:
| Typical Meerut load | Recommended plywood | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Cricket bats, balls, sports kit exports | Packing-grade, 8 mm or 10 mm | Light cube weight, ISPM-15 ready, low cost per crate |
| Publishing and bookbinding machinery | Packing-grade, 15 mm to 18 mm | Dense load, needs stacking strength and bracing thickness |
| Transformers, electrical equipment | Packing-grade, 18 mm with hardwood runners | Heavy point loads, port-handling shocks |
| Premium export crates with a specified hardwood face | Okoume face on packing-grade, 12 mm to 18 mm | Clean hardwood face, takes stencilling well, accepted by quality-sensitive overseas buyers |
| Construction-site shuttering in the Meerut-Modipuram belt | Shuttering ply, 12 mm | Multiple-pour reuse, film-faced options on request |
For most Meerut packing-case buyers, our standard hardwood-core packing-grade is the right answer. An Okoume face is a specification call — quote it when the overseas buyer or the freight forwarder asks for a premium look.
FAQ
Common questions from Meerut buyers
Do you supply ISPM-15 stamped crates and pallets?
Yes. We heat-treat at registered facilities and stencil the IPPC mark, country code IN, treatment code HT and the registered facility number. This is the standard for exports to the EU, UK, Australia and most other destinations Meerut ships to.
What is the minimum order you will ship to Meerut?
One full truck — roughly 18 to 20 tonnes of plywood, or the equivalent in crate sets and pallets. Smaller part-loads are possible if we can consolidate with another Delhi-NCR delivery, but full-truck pricing is always better for the buyer.
How do payment and GST work for an out-of-state buyer?
We bill ex-factory Kochi with IGST applicable for an inter-state supply to UP. Transport is billed separately or arranged by the buyer's nominated transporter. We share the proforma invoice with the full breakup, so there are no surprises at delivery.

Tell us what you are packing
If you are packing sports goods in Suraj Kund, crating machinery in Partapur, palletising for an auto-component shipment in Mohkampur, or running a trailer-refit job out of Modipuram, we can quote for it. Share the thickness, sheet count or crate spec, the destination and the monthly volume, and we will come back with an ex-factory rate and a landed-Meerut estimate.
Our group has manufactured packing plywood in Perumbavoor since 1986, and this side of our operation exists precisely for buyers like the ones who built Meerut's export trade.
