Packing-grade plywood, crates and pallets for Greater Noida's auto, data-centre and airport supply chains
We manufacture packing-grade plywood, built-up crates, pallets and container flooring for Greater Noida's export belts. Made in Perumbavoor, where our group has produced plywood since 1986, and shipped 2,400 km up the NH-44 corridor at a landed cost that competes with northern mills.
The industrial picture
One of North India's densest export-packing belts
Greater Noida concentrates several heavy users of wooden packaging inside a 25 km radius. Two-wheeler and four-wheeler plants, a tractor assembly line, Tier-1 component suppliers, hyperscale data-centre builds and the Yamuna Expressway corridor pushing toward the new international airport all generate cargo that must be crated, palletised and dunnaged in wood before it leaves the gate. The packing demand here is not one cluster but at least four overlapping ones, and the plywood spec changes with each.
Auto and auto-component cluster
The Surajpur–Kasna belt — Sectors Ecotech-I through XII, Site-V and the UPSIDC industrial area — is the heaviest user. Two-wheeler CKD kits bound for Latin America and Africa, four-wheeler sub-assemblies, tractor PTO housings and Tier-1 stamping and forging deliveries all move in plywood cases. The two-wheeler CKD lane and the tractor export lane out of Greater Noida are particularly steady.
Data centres and IT hardware
The Knowledge Park belt (II, III, V) and the Tech Zone IV cluster around Pari Chowk now host hyperscale and colocation builds. Rack delivery, UPS and chiller crating and switchgear protection during fit-out drive a specific demand: fewer crates, but heavier units, often single-piece loads above one tonne where the plywood case is structural rather than a wrap.
Film City and engineered goods
The upcoming Film City off the Yamuna Expressway, plus existing engineered-goods makers (pumps, valves and transformers in YEIDA Sectors 28 and 29), generate a steady packing-case requirement that is sensitive to price but, being mostly domestic, less driven by export treatment certification.
The new international airport at Jewar
As the Noida International Airport at Jewar ramps up, air-freight-grade crates — lighter, dimensionally tight, often 12 mm plywood on a softwood frame — will become a growing segment. We are already quoting against that brief for forwarders setting up around Sector 32 and the Multi-Modal Cargo Hub.
What we ship
Four product families, built to Greater Noida demand
We manufacture four product families against Greater Noida demand, all produced to CWI specifications at our facilities in the Perumbavoor cluster.
Packing-grade plywood (sheet form)
This is the workhorse. We ship 8x4 ft sheets in 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 18 mm thicknesses, hardwood face with rubberwood or commercial hardwood core, MR or BWR glue line depending on the buyer's QC. Selling rates run from ₹24/sq.ft for 6 mm up to ₹42/sq.ft for 18 mm, ex-factory Perumbavoor, GST and freight extra. For buyers ordering by the truckload we load full 32-ft single-axle trucks (about 25 tonnes) so the per-sheet inbound freight is at its lowest.
| Thickness | Selling rate (₹/sq.ft, ex-factory) | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 6 mm | 24 | Light cases, panel facing, dunnage |
| 8 mm | 28 | Small component cases |
| 10 mm | 31.5 | General CKD and box sides |
| 12 mm | 33.5 | Air-freight crates, mid-weight cases |
| 14 mm | 36 | Heavier component and machinery cases |
| 15 mm | 39 | Structural case panels |
| 16 mm | 39.5 | Heavy-duty crating |
| 18 mm | 42 | Container flooring, one-tonne-plus loads |
GST and transport extra; all rates ex-factory Perumbavoor.
Built-up crates and packing cases
For buyers who do not want to run their own case-making line, we manufacture finished cases — nailed or bolted, with skid bases, runner-and-batten sides and lid construction to the buyer's drawing. Jackwood runners at ₹400/cft are standard for the heavier auto and machinery crates; rubberwood runners on lighter cases.
Wooden pallets
Two-way and four-way entry pallets in 1200x800, 1200x1000 and 1100x1100 mm footprints, in standard-duty and heavy-duty load classes. For data-centre rack movement we typically build a 1200x1000 four-way pallet with a 38–50 mm top deck, strong enough for a 1,200 kg single load with the forklift entry the loading bay actually has.
Container flooring and dunnage
18 mm BWR plywood for container floor repair and one-trip container conversions, plus 12–18 mm sheets cut to dunnage sizes for in-container blocking and bracing. This is a smaller line, but a useful one for the CHA and freight-forwarder cluster around the ICD at Dadri.
Logistics
Kochi to Greater Noida — the route that matters
The honest question every North Indian buyer asks is why source plywood from Kerala when there are mills in UP. Two answers.
First, raw-material economics. The Perumbavoor belt is built on rubberwood and locally aggregated hardwoods — short, fast turnover, lower core cost than gurjan-import-dependent mills further north. That gap is usually wider than the freight cost over 2,400 km.
Second, the route is well-trodden. We dispatch from Perumbavoor (about 30 km from Cochin Port) by road on the standard NH-44 corridor toward Delhi. Transit for a single-axle 32-ft truck is 5–7 days to the Greater Noida industrial belts, and 6–8 days for a heavier 22-wheeler when the buyer prefers fewer, larger drops. For very large monthly volumes we can also offer rail-on-truck out of the Bangalore container terminals, which trims a day off transit but adds handling cost.
| Lane detail | Typical figure |
|---|---|
| Origin (load point) | Perumbavoor, Ernakulam district, Kerala |
| Distance to Greater Noida | ~2,400 km road |
| Transit time, 32-ft single-axle | 5–7 days |
| Transit time, 22-wheeler | 6–8 days |
| Truck capacity (sheet form) | ~25 tonnes / ~600–700 sheets of 18 mm |
| Delivery sectors served regularly | Ecotech I–XII, Surajpur, Knowledge Park, Site-V, YEIDA |
| Pricing basis | Ex-factory; GST + freight extra |
On export crates, ISPM-15 heat treatment and IPPC stamping are usually handled at the buyer's premises or by their nominated treatment agency; where needed, we can coordinate ISPM-15 heat-treated softwood runners through our partner mills.
Choosing a grade
Which spec for which Greater Noida load
A quick operator-level guide for buyers choosing a spec.
- Packing-grade rubberwood/commercial MR ply — for domestic-moving cases, in-plant pallets, dunnage and the bulk of auto-component CKD that does not require ISPM-15 fumigation. Lowest landed cost per sheet.
- Okoume-face packing ply — Okoume is a face-veneer option on the packing and BWR grades, chosen when the buyer's export customer specifies a clean, light-coloured face (European auto OEMs and some West African importers do). Cosmetically better, marginally more expensive; quoted on request rather than off the standard card.
- BWR plywood — for container flooring, exposed dunnage and any case that may sit in a port stack through a monsoon. Worth the upcharge when the alternative is field rework.
- Shuttering plywood — a separate product line we send to data-centre civil contractors and airport civil packages. Different tooling, quoted separately.
FAQ
Common questions from Greater Noida buyers
How do you handle ISPM-15 for export crates?
We supply the plywood and casework; ISPM-15 fumigation and stamping is typically handled at the buyer's premises or by their nominated treatment agency. Where the buyer needs it, we can coordinate ISPM-15 heat-treated softwood runners through our partner mills.
Can you deliver direct to a sector address inside Greater Noida?
Yes. We deliver to factory gates across YEIDA, GNIDA and the UPSIDC sectors. For heavy 22-wheelers we confirm the buyer's gate height and turning radius before dispatch — narrow sector roads inside older industrial blocks need a smaller vehicle.
What is the minimum order?
For sheet supply our economic minimum is one full truck (about 25 tonnes) to keep per-sheet freight rational. For finished crates and pallets we can ship part loads consolidated with sheet stock, which makes sense for buyers in the 50–200 case-per-month range.
