Packing-grade plywood, export crates and pallets for Nashik's auto-component and wine belts
We manufacture the packing-grade and Okoume-faced plywood, crates, pallets and container flooring that Nashik's MIDC pockets move parts and bottles on. Our group has manufactured in Perumbavoor since 1986, and the Kochi-to-Nashik lane runs as a single documented full-truck-load.
The industrial picture
Nashik runs on wood across a 30 km ring of MIDC pockets
Nashik sits at an unusual crossroads in Indian industry. It is the country's wine capital, home to the currency note press at Jail Road, and one of the densest concentrations of auto-component manufacturing west of the Ghats. Engine assemblies, component bins, export containers and bottle-pack cases all need wood, and the volume is steady while the specs stay exacting. The manufacturing belt is not a single estate — it is a ring of MIDC pockets spread across roughly 30 km, each with its own packaging profile.
- Satpur MIDC — the oldest belt, anchored by a major passenger-vehicle plant and a dense supplier cluster. Packing here is dominated by engine, axle and chassis-component crates moving to Chakan, Pune and onward to export ports.
- Ambad MIDC — a heavy concentration of auto-component and electrical-equipment makers. Heavy ply crates, pallet-loads of stampings and export packing dominate here.
- Sinnar MIDC (STICE) — newer, larger lots, a growing engineering and EV-component base, with several units running their own in-house crate shops. Bulk plywood sheets and sawn-timber runners go here in containers.
- Dindori and Vinchur MIDCs — wine bottling, food processing and the vineyard cluster. Wine bottle packing, divider boards and pallet collars are the recurring needs.
- Igatpuri and Gonde — heavy engineering, refractory and a steady flow of pharma logistics from the Mumbai-Nashik corridor.
Put together, the city consumes a mix that is heavier on packing plywood and crating-grade ply than on furniture or interior boards. That mix is exactly what we are built to supply.
What we ship
A packaging-supply book, not a hardware catalogue
We do not run a hardware-store catalogue — we run a packaging-supply book, and roughly forty years of group manufacturing has been spent narrowing in on the packing-grade and Okoume range.
Packing-grade plywood (MR-Packing)
Our packing-grade ply is the workhorse for the Nashik auto-component lane. Standard sheet size is 8 ft x 4 ft, and we mill thicknesses to match crate function:
| Thickness | Typical use |
|---|---|
| 6 mm / 8 mm | Top lids, internal dividers, light component sleeves |
| 10 mm / 12 mm | Side panels for medium-duty engine and pump crates |
| 14 mm / 15 mm / 16 mm | Bases and walls for heavy axle, gearbox and transformer crates |
| 18 mm | Deck panels, container floors and very heavy machinery bases |
Face veneers can be specified as Okoume or Gurjan depending on whether the customer wants the lighter African hardwood face (cleaner finish, lighter crate, common on export jobs) or the harder Gurjan face (more abrasion resistance under repeated handling). Okoume and Gurjan are face-veneer options on our MR-Packing and BWR grades — not separate product lines.
Finished crates and ISPM-15 export boxes
For Nashik exporters shipping to Europe, the US and the Middle East, we supply ready-built crates and cases — heat-treated, ISPM-15 stamped, and built to the dimensions the buyer specifies. Typical Nashik configurations include:
- Engine and gearbox export crates, 12-18 mm panel, with internal cleats and steel strapping points
- Auto-component flat crates for stampings, bumpers and plastic mouldings
- Closed plywood boxes for electrical panels, switchgear and instrumentation
- Wine bottle export cases — partitioned, vented, with shock-absorbing internal dividers
Wooden pallets
The most common pallet sizes drawn into Nashik MIDC are 1200 x 1000 mm (Euro-adjacent), 1200 x 800 mm (Euro standard for export) and 1100 x 1100 mm (Asian standard, common on container-direct flows). We supply both 4-way entry and 2-way entry constructions, and we will heat-treat and stamp ISPM-15 on request. Pallet decks can be packing-grade plywood (smoother, easier on the auto-component lines) or sawn-timber slats (cheaper, common in food and wine).
Container flooring
For end-users who stuff 20-ft and 40-ft containers directly at Sinnar or Ambad and need to repair or replace floors before reuse, 18-mm packing-grade or BWR ply cut to container-floor dimensions ships on a regular basis. We can pre-cut to the standard 20-ft and 40-ft footprints and bundle the lot on a single truck.
Logistics
Kochi to Nashik runs as a single documented full-truck-load
The road distance from Kochi/Ernakulam to Nashik is approximately 1,200 km. The lane runs north through Mangaluru, up the Konkan via NH-66 and then onto NH-48 at Pune, or alternatively inland through Bengaluru and Hubballi onto NH-48. Practical transit time for a full-truck-load (FTL) is 4-5 days door-to-door once the truck is loaded, including driver rest and toll/check-post time.
| Lane detail | Figure |
|---|---|
| Road distance, Kochi → Nashik | ~1,200 km |
| FTL transit (door-to-door) | 4–5 days |
| 32-ft single-axle payload | ~14–16 metric tonnes of finished plywood |
| Part-load consolidation lead time | 7–10 days |
For Nashik specifically, road from Kochi is almost always the right choice — no port economics beats a direct truck on this route for sheet-form plywood and crating timber. Multi-axles carry more than a single-axle. We load and document from the Perumbavoor side, and the truck is invoiced and dispatched as a single FTL with full GST paperwork. For smaller orders we consolidate part-load with other Maharashtra-bound dispatches; lead time on a part-load is typically 7-10 days.
Choosing a grade
Matching the grade to a Nashik load
Across the inbound enquiries from the Nashik belt, the same decision keeps coming up: packing-grade vs Okoume-faced vs BWR vs shuttering ply. The practical rules are:
- Domestic auto-component crates, one-way trip: MR-Packing with Gurjan face, 12 mm sides / 15 mm base. Cheapest sensible option.
- Export crates (US/EU/GCC), one-way: MR-Packing or BWR with Okoume face, 12-15 mm. Lighter crate, cleaner finish, ISPM-15 heat treatment mandatory.
- Reusable transit racks (returnable packaging): BWR with Gurjan face, 15-18 mm. Holds up to repeated handling and humid Konkan port-side conditions.
- Wine bottle export cases: 6-8 mm MR-Packing for lids and dividers, 12 mm for sides; Okoume face if cosmetic.
- Container floor refits: 18 mm BWR, container-floor dimensions.
- Site-shuttering for civil and metro projects: film-faced shuttering ply, not packing grade. Different product, ask for the shuttering catalogue.
Sawn-timber runners — typically jackwood (₹/cft) or rubberwood — go under crate bases and along pallet stringers; we quote these alongside the plywood line items.
FAQ
Nashik buyer FAQ
Can you deliver to Satpur, Ambad and Sinnar in the same truck?
Yes. Multi-drop within Nashik on a single FTL is straightforward as long as drop points are confirmed before dispatch. Multi-drop into a Pune-Nashik combined run is also doable.
Do you supply ISPM-15 stamped crates from Kochi itself?
Yes. ISPM-15 heat treatment and stamping is done at our facility before the truck loads, so the crates arrive in Nashik ready for export documentation. The stamp and certificate travel with the dispatch.
What is the minimum order to make a Kochi-to-Nashik FTL worthwhile?
An FTL of plywood from Kochi to Nashik is economical from about 14 tonnes upward. Below that, part-load consolidation with other Maharashtra-bound trucks gives a better ₹/sheet — at the cost of 3-5 extra days of transit. We will quote both options on request.
